Took a glass to open up. Earthy, lifted, no real fruit. Medium lean, good structure but not complex or exciting. Would be happy to spend another night with a bottle but I have other wines I can buy for the money that are better. So 1 1/2.

Lovely oaky, leathery, smoky nose. Good mouth feel and satisfying, slightly woody and spicy claret taste.

Black currant, leather, savoury spice, mineral and graphite nose. Solid fruit concentration with low to medium acidity and ripe tannins; roasted nut and brulee finish. Could use a couple of years to open up. 4/5
