More complex and full as a regular Bojo, but not as good as 2020

Fairly generic. In short OK. Clipped nose and finish. Expected more!

Fourth and final bottle of this. Solid but not exceptional value, especially relative to my benchmark for world-class Beaujo, which is Foillard Cote du Py. Sour cherry and pepper notes. A bit too bright for my taste preferences.

Very very light. Too light for me to enjoy, but others in my party liked it a lot.

Open in the bottle for a couple of hours. With the air, the nose is rounding out with earthy notes on top of dark cherries, blackberry leaves and the smell of rocks cracking against each other (not exactly flinty but something like that). Palate is also earthy with soy sauce umami notes (in a good way) and bright crunchy cherries and cranberries. If rubies (the gemstones) had a taste I think they would taste like this. It’s a little oaky …

Tasty Beaujolais Cru 2021 Domaine Anita Morgon Château Gaillard ($33). From 70-year-old vines. Light ruby, rim variation, viscous (13.0 alc.); red fruit, light peppery nose; low acids, tannins; balanced; round, good, long fruity finish. 16.5/91.
