Excellent wine. Opened and started drinking. The wine was closed at first but after about 30 minutes become more expressive on the nose and palate. Nice long finish.

Crushed rocks, dark fruit, a touch of what seems like oak driven spice and very subtle vanilla on the nose. The palate feels a little disjointed to me, like a bit of oak is masking a wine that’s missing some drive and oomph to its core. It’s not necessarily bad, and there’s enjoyable elements, but it feels incomplete and disjointed to me.

On PnP, wine is harsh and tart; had with deep dish pizza which worked well; but the post-dinner sips revealed a much better integrated and stand-alone experience. Nose is fruit forward followed by earthy followed by a touch of nail polish remover (don’t be put off). Taste is dry and silky and finish is quite lasting. Good QPR. Would love to taste the Brunello.
