Wines from the Punchdown; 7/9/2020-8/8/2020 (Home) : Dark fruit flavor comes first, ripe tasting, but then it is almost immediately joined by a zesty, sprightly acidity, and that makes it a whole different kind of party. Fine tannin at the end, but nothing that stops the party, especially if you’re drinking this with rich food. This is serious fun! This might be a point or so of activist rating, but I think this is quite underrated here.

Surprisingly good for the price, well made Grenache, took about an hour before the fruit really came forward, nose not as expressive as I would have expected, good acidity/tannins/structure.

Dichotomy of concrete fresh and inky teeth staining chewy Garnacha. At about 15% ABV, it’s youthful and lively as it is dark and concentrated (70 year old vines). I’ve read conflicting reports on stem inclusion, but either way there is significant tannin and backbone to match the power. The deepest dark berry concentrate, black licorice, black pepper, and bitter mocha.

With dinner at Adarra in RVA, not decanted. To the nose, black cherry. On the palate, black cherry with slight black raspberry and red cherry. Less spice than typical garnacha, but still not boring as has some acidity. Tannins in thin threads barely providing support. No noticeable veg or leather/oak. Slightly more than medium mouthfeel and length. Described to us as "sultry" and would agree.

Very funky. Some bubble gum notes on the palate. Some spice. Long finish.
