Home-drinking, Singapore. Very lifted nose that intertwines cool notes of bramble, peony, soil and pot-pourri. Fully resolved tannins on a palate with medium width expanding into a sweet (sucrosite) and spicy finish. I am thinking the Fourrier wines have a strong winemaking imprint, albeit a highly talented one. The wines are as much Fourrier as they speak of their terroir. To be confirmed in an upcoming mini-Fourrier vertical/

Fading ruby. Secondary scents of red fruit, earth, and orange peel. Light to medium bodied. Supple with a complex mix of fruit, soil, and excellent acidity with little remaining tannins. Lovely and just about completely resolved.

This is so Fourrier, just feral and supple. Such a raw expression of Pinot noir. Very much in the cherbs vein as well - a bit on the denser fruit side and less tension than say CaM - delicious at the expense of complexity. Rating is based on pure enjoy-ability. Give lots of air as always. Ready now for the next 10

Opens up with a fragrant nose of flowers, strawberry fruit, spices. Light and elegant on the palate, the fruit is soft but yet lively and vibrant. This seems younger than the bottle we had in 2023. Beautiful, captivating wine. Chez Steffen with Niels and Peter.

Surprisingly open. The nose is all sou bois and red berries pungent, layers upon layers of interest. Palate is still a bit reduced and tannins in the way but the velvety mouthfeel and fruit says it will come together nicely in 3+ years.

An unexpected backup opening… Full garnet. Richer and more lift on the nose. Showing the usual Fourrier glamour. An interesting juxtaposition with the GCs that immediately preceded it as on its own it would be lovely, but in the present company the winemaking can’t get past the difference in terroir and on the palate it’s a lot simpler and shorter than the three CdlRs. ****

Had a small pour only so brief notes. Was probably open for 4 hours by the time I had this. I had this a few months ago where I had the chance to monitor this from the get go. Similar notes in that bouquet a bit more reserved than the CAM, with darker fruit tones with spices dominating bouquet and palate. Fourrier 18s are drinking well and so approachable, one of the rare 2018s that managed the heat well.

Lovely wine showing the ripe wild cherry fruit that Fourrier is known for. Quite crunchy on the finish with a fine, spice-driven complexity. Drinking well now.

Opened and poured. Light ruby. Some smoke and tart red fruit. Light, earthy cranberry/strawberry and nicely saline with moderate tannins. Did not leave a strong impression of quality but a nice soil-infused Burgundy. Its fruit was muted compared to what one finds in other Fourrier wines.

The one with Fourriers, Barthods and Groffier (IT GWC) : Served in a pair and given the theme, stylistically this could only be Fourrier. Bouquet a touch more reserved compared to the CAM, showing a darker fruit profile, ripe dark berries and blueberries with cloves and sage dominating the bouquet. Palate more structured than the CAM, with ripe cherries, bramble fruit, pine and tea leaves. Tannins noticeably firmer with good structure. This was less straightforward but we eventually landed on …

Wonderful, fragrant nose of light red fruits and flowers. Pure and elegant on the palate with delicate red fruits, earthy marks and sous bois on the back. Expressive, en danseuse. Just great wine in the bottle. Chez Steffen & Pia.

Consistent with my previous note. Aromatically stunning. The most floral wine in Fourrier's range that I have experience. I let this breath a bit before digging in this time, and just wow. Fireworks really start about 90 minutes in. So light on it's feet, all red fruits, backed up by tea spice and soft resolving tannins. I think this may develop a bit more, but it is soooo good now. Will try to keep my hands off my last bottle …

Wow, what an incredibly vibrant PN with a fairly unique profile! Super effusive, high-toned bouquet; there's quite a bit of snappy, wild red raspberry fruit and floral tones, but what really stood out to me were a number of complex mineral and spice tones. Petrichor, freshly roasted coffee grounds, almost "literally" spicy with notes of something like garam masala along with cinnamon. A kick of incense too. Maybe the nose lacks a little bit of "bass", it's all soprano, but …

Darkish robe, medium body. Nose of sauvage and bright fruit, which carries into the palate along with some spice. Wonderful complexity, balance and finish. We were thoroughly enjoying a 2018 Fourrier Morey St. Denis Clos de Salon until we opened this Gevrey 1er of same vintage, which stole the show! Medium body. Overall just delightful. Some sauvage on the nose and palate, deep dark fruits. This has the ethereal fruit common to Fourrier. Silky and everything is in balance. Where this is just slightly weak is in the finish, where the fruit and complexity trails off. I have experienced this with 2018 Fourrier’s - ehterial fruit, then can be weaker on the finish than the initial mouthfeel impression might suggest.

Striking color, and very transparent. Visually it looked almost like a trousseau. This was an incredibly delicate wine with a haunting bouquet. Fresh spring morning billowed from the glass with hints of cherry and raspberry. On the pallet it had great acidity and was all about the red fruit with much more upside over the next 5+ years. If I had to be critical, it lacked a bit of concentration, but I can’t stop think about the mind blowing aromatics …

A bundle of youthful, crunchy, pure red cherry and raspberry fruit. A slight spritz that recedes with 30 minutes or so. Fun and delicious now but better with 5+ years as this gains some nuance.

Some Gevrey sauvage greets the nose. It is loaded with dark cherry and plum fruits. There are pleasant florals too. It is fleshy, with ample structure just buried below the surface. It feels velvety against the gums and finishes with a gentle flex of muscle.

Looked advanced in glass, cork broke. Opened two bottles out of the 4 bought from K&L auction. Both cooked. Some nose straight out of bottle of vanilla and red fruit...quickly died. Really disappointing body was flat and soy sauce. So far hit rate with K&L is 0/6, can’t see myself buying from there again

Well, it's certainly better than the 2018 Gevrey VV I had last week or the Gruenchers next to it, but this is not a banner bottle. Starts off with more blue fruit on the nose I've ever gotten from Fourrier and definitely some jam. There's some pretty red fruit on the palate, but there's also a fair amount of concentration, certainly more than I'd like - this is pretty viscous. There's a touch of heat on the finish too. What …

PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong) : During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Fourrier really handled this vintage well. The wine is fresh, complex and elegant. The CSJ has, no surprise, the edge over the also very good Cherbaudes.

A lovely Gervey 1er Cru. Crunchy sour cherry and cranberry fruit. Very sappy - good energy and feels as if the grapes retained lovely freshness here. Mineral and touch of well integrated expensive oak on the medium long finish. Beautiful with a deer shoulder. This can probably improve and will hold another twentie years easy but it is highly enjoyable in its fruit forward way today. 93+

The Cherbaudes is a significant step up from the Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru. Densely packed bouquet of ripe dark berries, juicy cassis and fine gravel-y minerals. Cherbaudes is the expressive Premier Cru of Fourrier though not the most refined, approachable at youth. Good structure with fine phenolic ripeness. (89/100)

Domaine Fourrier Cellar Visit and Tasting (Gevrey-Chambertin) : Barrel tasting at the domaine. Slightly reductive start. Upfront aromatic charm and complexity with all black fruit. Both black and some red cherry flavors, ending with a long, bright, minerally finish. Very good 91-93 point potential.

Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Chambolle Musigny (Bishopscourt) : (Tasted Blind): Light to mid ruby towards a browning rim. Again, savoury, umami notes dominate, but red and black cherry appear as it opens with toasty oak. A crisp fresh acidity, lovely intensity and depth to it, grip and pose, with richer flavours of black cherry, rhubarb, spiced oak and blood orange. There is power here with sandy tannins, complexity and a reasonably broad palate structure, yet I loved its elegance …

huge, highly perfumed wine that is still very much in the primary phase of it's life, but drinking beautifully. In the red fruit spectrum, terrific lift and richness, complex and extremely long. An absolute treat, Fourrier struck gold in this vintage, his best ever.

Terroir-istes International - France, Loire, Domaine Huet (The Fat Butcher, Stellenbosch) : (Dinner - Short Notes): Intense aromas draw you in with a lovely flavour profile of red fruits, more reminiscent of Beaune than Gevrey. Rich and succulent with breadth on the mid-palate, there is some density to the fine-grained tannic structure and supportive tangy acidity. Old vines.

Medium-pale ruby. Some reduction initially on the nose. Medium+ intensity. Wet stones and steely. Some strawberry and red current aromas but they are more reserved than on the 2011. The palate is much more structured than the 2010, higher tannin with more body. Perfumed yet powerful. Feels like it is holding something back. I suspect it will be great. Needs time. Very good+

Klar, dyp frisk rød med hint av blått. Parfymert nese med fioler, mørke, søte bringebær og granateple. Transparent, frisk og lettbent frukt med flott intensitet. Mørke bringebærtoner med toner av nellik. Frisk presis, syre. Fjærlette tanniner i utgang. Tørr. Fin lengde med lett bitterhet og fruktige toner.

Impressions from the 2014 La Paulee Verticals Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco) : Oh my, after the subdued to non-existent fruit in the Burguets, gorgeous cherry liqueur scents leap out of the glass and are intoxicating. Some wood present, beautiful juxtaposition of vibrant fruit and terroir, nice acidity, round, ripe tannins. Outstanding and it just brings a smile to your face due to the essence of Pinot fruit without fruitiness.

Needs a lot of time to come around. Drank over 3 days and it didn't really get together on the first day, but on days 2 and 3 it was so much better. Really fine with outstanding depth of fruit and Gevrey earth. Lovely fresh mouthfeel and a great tactile impression. A wonderful 1er Cru.
