Even now this wine could use more bottle age.

Decanted and drunk over the next 90 minutes with minimal change. Good but not remarkable. Fairly subdued for the varietal.

Deep dark purple, very little signs of age. Dark garnet around the rim. Musky blackberry and plum aromas with some pleasant signs of age. No alcohol present. Reminds me of a really yummy napa cabernet sauvignon with 10-12 years of age. Fresh turned leaves and a tiny bit of barnyard add to the fun. Light body with a long smooth finish. Soft tannins lend structure to the wine while balancing acidity keeps the wine refreshing. Slightly rustic, yet very pleasant. …

Great QPR Italian wine. Nose is funky with over ripped fruit and truffles. In the mouth the fruit is super dense and mouth coating viscous. Spices are mostly celery seeds. Tannins still super firm on this wine. Could go another 2-3 years before they soften out.

Pretty meaty wine, i.e. very dark in color with high acid and high tannic content. There was very nice Aglianico fruit to enjoy, but you had to wade through. I am not certain the fruit will last another 7-10 years, but that is probably the length of time you might have to wait if you goal is to have the tannins subside.

I am having a difficult time deciding what to say or think about this wine. It is very funky; not necessarily in a good way. There is a strong fruit foundation that comes through mid-palate and on the finish, but the front end is a bit garrish and phenolic. Even on the 2nd day, this one was still on the wild side. I just tasted a very young Aglianico at a restaurant. It was also tannic, like the Rotondo, but …
