Bright and energetic, well made, probably at peak now and we like it with a bit of freshness and at age 10 just felt right. No point risking much more ageing as the lasck of energy as it ages will rob it of its charm we felt.

Needed 2-3h in a decanter to open up; cool blue fruit, still quite primary, long and balanced. Very nice wine, GV?

Beautiful and pure nose of sweet cassis, turned earth and French oak. Med-full bodied, thsi is quite rich and full on the palate with plenty of sweet cassis and black currant fruit, spicy, cedar-tinged oak and turned garden soil. There’s a distinct salty minerality in the lingering finish that really elevates this to the next level. Drink now-2032 92

Predictably brilliant, this manages to be very ripe, fun and deep of flavour while also being pretty clear with you that it should be taken seriously and give the respect of proper cellaring. It feels like this is a second wine genuinely capable of knocking a host of first wines off their perch. There is an ocean of seconds clearly intended to sell well at the supermarket at prices enriched by the brand of their older sibling, despite their often …

From magnum. Church pew, old wardrobe and leather on a smooth gliding palate of dark fruit, hint of chocolate. The last part of the bottle drank best.

Pleasant if a little subdued. Quite an earthy nose with some Margaux florality. Not especially much fruit, or long on the finish, but the balance is good. I don't see any need to keep this longer, as although not yet tertiary the tannins are resolved and it doesn't have a great deal of stuffing.

For the nose, I got a smell of tobacco, plum and notes of ceder. As for the palate, heavy on blackcurrent, graphite and spice. Soft tannin, moderate acidity. Easy to drink as the finish is very smooth.

Bordeaux trip with friends, Jan-Feb 2025; 1/30/2025-2/2/2025 (Bordeaux, St.Emilion) : Already developing some tertiary aromas of tobacco and wet leaves, the wine is light-weighted, black fruit-driven and fresh overall. Not the most complex wine, short length but good for a second wine. 89+

My nostrils were immediately captivated by a seductive perfume which translated into delightful berry fruit on the palate. Savoury, tannic and spicy, this was so inviting, charming and elegant. The finish was ethereal and sublime. CHP 93 pts

Fun, loads of fruit, bit jammy (almost cali cab sauv-esque?) but good QPR from a great vintage. Needed 30 mins of air in bottle.

I let the bottle breathe for a solid 30 minutes, contemplating giving it an hour and a half to strut its stuff, and boy, was that the right call. It opened up with the smoky allure of blackcurrants and sweet tobacco, wrapping around my senses like a devious lover. Paired with a NY Strip at Pastis Miami, it felt like an electric connection—plump cherries and plums exploded on the palate, mingling with pomegranate whispers and a hint of spices. Yet, …

2nd wine but not 2nd class. Vibrant fruit, depth and complexity. Already displaying tertiary characteristics. Giving the '18 a little longer but looking forward to cracking that open too

Very much a second wine, not one I have tried before. Quite plump and fruity, with hints of RS majesty, but a bit callow and awkward. It certainly made me feel like trying a RS 2014, but not like buying another Ségla. No hurry for drinking anyway, and it may improve with more time.

Well done , nothing over the top , tannins were noticeable , fruit was just there , not an overbearing wine, with this quality happy to drink any day.

Opened and decanted: Sweet phenolics and raspberry. Intensifying menthol Arresting suger cane. Saline scent of preserved olive liqour. Buttered menthol. Dry leather and hessian on the top rear tounge. Hardware and army surplus shop. Chalk and oyster shell, rear under-tounge. Approachable and delightful. Plus 45 minuites: Subdued nose; balanced menthol with lavender. One hour: Savoury. Asparagus, bay leaf; sage; more and more herbaceous with time. Hint of the scent from wild garlic. Bought at La Buvette in Omaha while eating lunch and never opened while there, 2 left in cellar there and one brought back and opened as part of the line up for Christmas Eve when we needed to take a step up without getting too fancy and didn't need a full bottle and most of my other 375ml bottles are too young. Was concerned about provenance as I found it standing up in the shop but it turned out to …

40th anniversary tasting (L'Esprit du Vin - Axelborg) : My notes from this fantastic gigantic tasting are in general extremely short (because of the many wines) but with ratings. We spent a whole day tasting and tasting quality wines. This wine: Clearly Green pepper from Cab. 2015 is a little better.

An exploration of Bordeaux - 2016 vintage (Le Pont, Milsons Point) : Ripe plummy fruit, a little red berry fruit, cream, sweet spice, quite rich nose, polished oak. Juicy, fleshy, chalky tannins, fruit plays second fiddle to the tannins, a little red and plummy fruit. Meh for me.

Young but also probably drinking at its better days as this had a few harsh elements , light green edge and we felt that once this ages and the brightness goes away the remaining wine will be a bit dull and uninteresting. good 89 now

Has weight, savoury led with a rich creamy mouthfeel. Fruit is indistinct although there is a perfume/fruit aroma hovering. All the Bordeaux characteristics although not screaming Margaux. I like this a great deal for what it is and am not going to fret about what it is not. Will buy more.

By the glass. Earthy, blackberry with balsamic touches of mint and chocolate on the nose. Quite balanced in the mouth, already rounded, ready, abundant with a nice finish. Por copas. Terroso, zarzamora negra con toques balsámicos de menta y chocolate en nariz. Bastante equilibrado en boca, ya redondeado, listo, abundante y de un rico final.

Beautiful on the nose. Typically Margaux...perfumed and fragrant. Ripe, red fruit sweetness, hinting at rose petals/peonies. Smells elegant! Medium to high tannins on the palate but feels soft and rounded. Is there a touch of gravel? Strawberry laces at the edge...possibly sweet leather in there too. A pleasant low to medium acidity. A very easy drinking bottle that washes down easily. A nice finish too, 30 secs - 1 min! In summary, elegant, perfumed and rich. Afterthoughts - blueberry muffin …

Perfume aromas dominate the nose with hints of oak, cassis, dried herbs, and cherry. The palate is the same as the aromas with hints of Blackberry, cranberry, cream, and licorice after 90 minutes. Soft tannins and medium (-) acidity. A Lovely Margaux that reminded me of a great Chianti with its delicate red fruits.

I like this a lot more on day 2 where a dusty cocoa finish reminded me of the 2010 bottle I enjoyed much. On day 1, it came off as much lighter and brighter, quite tart in the category and with a nice depth of fruit. Looking forward to revisiting this with more time given the very different impressions on this one...

Dinner at Le Saint Jacques, Copenhagen (highly recomendable) with the wife. Drank with duck paté as starter and venison as main. Young but excellent match with the food. Not the deepest Margaux, but ripe cassis and black cherries, pencil lead, a little black pepper and a tiny touch of wood. A restaurant QPR hard to find in Copenhagen. Very enjouable.

Deep ruby color. Black Cherries, blackberries, black plum, smoke, pepper, vanilla, mushroom, earthiness. Med+ acidity, full body, high alcohol, Med+ flavor intensity, Med finish. Quite fruity, a bit jamminness, still young as acidity is pronounced. Was expecting a longer finish as well. Paired very nicely with our cheeses from haute savoie. I am a big fan of rauzan - segla, not fully convinced on this one.

Floral scents with sweet, dark berries in a forward, open, medium-bodied style that is both easy to like and understand. Gentle elegance that will be ready to drink as soon at it hits the stores. Segla is not sold En Primeur but this is one of the top values from all of Margaux.

Drank on 16th wedding anniversary. Better than I thought it was going to be, but clearly on the earthy/secondary side of the equation. Not much fruit, but flavors were clean and correct. A very mature claret best consumed now.
