Two years after the prior, and our last: again dark fruited, pencil lead. Rather big, somewhat hot (especially at first), but that sensation dissipated somewhat by the third or fourth day, when it showed best.

Decanted a few hours, then consume over the next 48. Cork was dried out. Initial tasting had a note of incense, maybe sandalwood. This faded away during the decant. Starting to taste like it’s a little on the downward slide, drink up.

Dark, pencil lead. A bit dusty. Tannic, but rounded out quite well. Enjoyable enough over four nights.

- Garnet color. It's in total harmony with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Beautiful wine

15 months since the prior, this has finally shed its excessiveness, and shows what we have always wanted from BV: Substantial Cabernet fruit, to be sure, but also a hint of lovely dust, and a touch of savory character. Highly enjoyable over three nights. And unfortunately, our last.

Solid bottle. Nothing over the top, but I was expecting something speacial from a great winery from a great vintage. Oh well it was enjoyable.

Wine was rockin, great bouquet, a touch of heat that slowly dissipated, good fruit with lots of flavor, nice balance, slight tartness from the tannin, some complexity, drank easily, drank with shell steak, would drink again if I could find it, a great example of what some age can do for a Napa cab.

This was a bit better than our bottle in December 2015, which was in turn better than the prior. So: With age, this has lost some of the excessive bigness that detracted from earlier bottles of the same vintage. Still, it's unfortunately quite more alcoholic and obvious than we remember from 10 or 15 to 20 years ago, and it has less of the trademark Rutherford dust.

decanted and poured 1 hour later. Big taste, but smooth tannins. Dark berries with touch of vanilla. Very nice bottle of wine. Perfectly paired with beef burgundy and roasted veggies.

Not a bad wine. Rich but too oaky and a somewhat heavy. As others have asked, "where's the dust?" Disappointing to see BV having gone along with the current trend in Calif. for oaky, extracted, high alcohol cabs with little sense of place.

We enjoyed this one more than the last (see note below), perhaps because we were no longer expecting it to be like what we recall of this bottling in prior years. For what it is -- big and rich, with little if any trademark dust -- it is quite OK.

decanted quickly, opened up nicely, still some youthful edge to it.

Dark. Big. Kiss of sweetness, verging on imbalance. Rather hot. But the biggest problem: Where's the dust? I used to really like these wines when they were made in a reasonable style, with at least a touch of restraint. Bigger is not better.

Beginning to show it's age. Fruit was veiled, but the nose was still nice. Have one more bottle and will drink it before the year is out. Definitely not too early to drink and may be losing its vibrancy. Great value.

Decanted two hours, returned to bottle. Drank over 2 hours. Black to deep garnet edge. Rutherford nose of cassis, dust and a bit of cherry. Tastes like I expect a BV Rutherford to taste. Good fruit, good balance and nice finish. Rating as much for QPR as overall quality. This one will benefit from and extended decanting.

Not a huge fan of this wine for the cost. Maybe it us just a little to soon for this one. Finish is quite uneventful and coarse. Very earthy and typical of the Rutherford region. Although it is not my kind of wine, I am sure many people would enjoy this one. We'll wait a while before we open another.

Very dark center to deep purple edge - young looking. Decanted. At 1 hour plum, cassis and a hint of Rutherford. Cherry and cassis with a medium finish that lingers... This took 2 hours to open up fully. AT 2-1/2 hours it is light, perfumed and a very good example of a BV Rutherford Cab. Last bottle was obviously an off bottle - a lesson in bottle variation. Looking forward to my last bottle. Strongly suggest a few hours in …

Dark berries and plum. A touch of spice with soft tannins. Lots of fruit and a bit of vanilla. Very smooth and got better with each glass.

Deep purple to beet red edge. Deep plummy nose, with some cherry overtones. No real trace of Rutherford fruit (disappointing). Short to medium finish. Almost Portlike in flavor profile. This is not the BV that I remember. Still have '08 and '09 in cellar. If these are not better, I will drop BV Rutherford from my wish list. >edit: off bottle. Removing score. Second bottle was MUCH better.

OMG C'mon folks...This wine is delicious. The other word is balanced--huge but not a fruit bomb, good tannin but not a pucker bomb, mouth-filling but my teeth never felt threatened, 14.5% but my throat isn't burning--just freaking delicious. Wine this good makes me want to cry, despite being a Unitarian, "There is a God and he/she makes very good wine."

Juicy hamburgers and 2007 BV Rutherford wowed the 4th of July guests. Fruity nose with a smooth finish. The remaining bottles will improve for years to come.

Beautifully drinking '07 Napa Cab. Running low on '07's. Actually have more heavy hitting '05 and '06 left, which I am not complaining about. Could have waited on this one, but would not wait too long. Maybe 6-18 months. I can picture those not big on oak not liking as much. Keeps getting better the longer its open.

Second tasting with consistent notes. Interesting aromatic component that I can't quite put my finger on, pepper? eucalyptus? Slightly austere fruit profile, but I found it quite enjoyable.

No real discernable nose. Palate was halfway decent with a lot of fruit and a tannic finish. A bit sweet like grape juice.
