NZ Pinot (Jervois Rd Wine Bar + Kitchen, Auckland) : Yeasty nose. Slight ripe red cherry. Dry, medium body, high acid, a bit harsh bitter tannins - papery. Feels 13% alcohol (correct) A bit austere on the palate. Not much depth of fruit.

2014 New Zealand Pinot Noir (K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Very pale. New World aromatics-cola and ripe cherry, a touch of menthol. Medium weight. Core of deep, medicinal black cherry fruit. Excellent acidity, no obvious wood, earthy, tannic finish. I like this.
