Stickybeak Chardonnay

Fairly mediocre chardonnay for Russian River. A bit over oaked, kind of flat and flabby with little to no minerality or verve. Was hoping for a bargain but to no avail, probably just past its prime, may need to find a more recent vintage.

Part of my horizon broadening program that I am not including Chadonnay to my list of "likes". Definitely interesting- lots of layers and flavors for days. Some of the same sauv blanc notes I am used to (apple, pear) but rounded out by the sweetness of stone fruit (mostly peach)and hints of butterscotch. Light lemon yellow color; odd, light citrus, quince, baseball card gum nose; simple, ripe citrus palate; short-medium finish (13.9% alcohol; 9 moths in oak, 33% new; sample provided by winery)

Bright and fruity - very low oak. Easy to drink. Tasted at Vintage Cellar.
