Blackberries, spices and chocholate. Medium acid and tannins. Some sweetness which needs to be more balanced by more structure in the wine.

talk about surprises, this one took the cake. Incredible raspberry jam-like notes with essence of vanilla bean, wow, there is no way I could have predicted this one being the Mexican wine of the night.

Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Deep garnet color. Nose is present but nondescript, with black pepper, cherries, woody notes. Pleasantly full weight on the palate, with firm acidity and plummy flavors with pine notes. Finishes with a bit of tar and coating but velvety tannins. A pleasant bottle, very good QPR at c.$10.

Inky purple; bell peppers, black pepper, plums; pruney, slightly spicy, lush, full body, low acidity, slightly astringent tannins, short finish. Quaffable but jammy and flabby. The opposite of my palate preference. This won a gold?

Both bouquet and taste and not to forget colour told my senses one thing right from the start: juicy! Pure, utter and unadulterated red currant juice + hints of other berry fruits. From the first to the last sip. Very vital and straight juice-a-like. Well, perhaps I spotted a few hints of red currant sherbet with some traces of nutmeg and pepper, too. Anyway, 90% tasted like red currant juice. Luckily the sweetness wasn’t superimposed or pungent, but definitely present! …

New wine in store from Baja California and product of Mexico. Price is low @ 12$ so giving it a go - not sure about this...deep dark purple and nose is light, slightly artificial tone to it. The palate is light/medium bodied, good hit of acid and light tannins. Dark cherry notes, wonder about cherry cola. Finish is medium length and some green pepper notes and not much else...

Raspberry, blackberry, smoked meat, pepper, chocolate. Medium bodied, green tannins, lacks a bit of fruit, shortish finish. Will not improve.

Very ripe with notes of leather, currents, and some kirsch. Still holding up surprisingly well for such an inexpensive wine!

Really impressed. Wasn't expecting much. Lots of red fruit, vanilla, and pepper. Somewhat simple but surprisingly good.

Full bodied and ripe. Loaded with fruits like black cherries and cassis, little leather. Lacks a little complexity in the finish. Definitely a good wine.

Very subtle and exciting wine. It has a nice nose of soft oak, maple syrup and a touch of pepper. It had a clean yet dense core of jammy blackberries and strawberries and a medium, fruity finish, not tannic at all.

Purple-black; prunes, blueberry pie, black currants, kirsch liquor; cooked fruit, jammy, medium-full body, good grip, well-integrated tannins, nice finish. Tasty grape but definitely a jammy New World style. Good quaffer for $9.95.
