Fielding Hills Cabernet-Merlot

Pleasant fruit notes are left, and theoretically the tannins are there (I get very warm subtle vanilla flavors), but this wine is breaking apart and suffers from low acid that ultimately dooms it. It’s past prime for sure.

Washington State Takes Washington, DC (Medium Rare - Washington, DC) : blackberries and burnt sugar on the nose. good acid. the fruit is a bit candied for me.

This wine is coming together very nicely. Chocolate, black cherry, mocha, lavender, and vanilla all swirled together make this a beauty. Very feminine cab and elegant. Beautiful wine.

My wife opened it and let it sit (recorked) for 4 days before I got to it. I could tell it had been awesome, full-bodied with dark berry/currant and some coffee flavors. Score is an estimate based on what was left.

A little better than my 6/5/08 review. Not a lot of complexity, but drinking nicely. Tobacco and strawberry notes. I'm pleased with the QPR here.

Fairly muted. As another reviewer said, not much fruit. As Randy Jackson would say, "It was just OK for me, Dawg."

Deeply night time red; aroma of tobacco; asparagus; mint and some dairy product. Devoid of any fruit; more tobacco, in fact the flavour of chewing upon a cigar butt. Mid-palate is tannic, coating inside of mouth, finishing with more firm tannins and a rather pleasant mintiness. Enjoyed with prime rib, which helped mask the tannins.

Lovely NW cab. Rasberries and lots of tabacco. Structured with a very long and pleasing finish. Drank over 2 days and it held up well.

This wine has a deep ruby color, with dark intensity. Herbal notes, lots of spice, black currant and plum. Medium to full bodied, got fruit intensity on the palate, tingling acidity and a lingering finish.

Consistent with my previous notes. Popped and poured, so the nose was a bit muted than the last time. A producer to continue to watch for sure.

Awesome bottle of wine that can be had for under $25 ($23 if you get a case at my favorite local wine store in Washington). The syrah mix here makes the juice lighter and vibrant. The wine can be had alone, and its not such a monster that it overpowers your food. Had it with spaghetti tonight, and it was a marriage made in heaven.
