Xanadu Lagan Estate Reserve

Expectations: a tired old wine. But: HAH! Nah, this is a highly alive bottle that gained both weight and momentum over the evening. Screams of Australia's red earth on the nose. Also has a bizarre perfumed scent that actually worsens with time. A stylish barrel treatment of the milder kind. In the mouth, it starts out with a hollow mid-palate. Still kicking, but pop and pour is my advice. This is a fun and interesting wine.

Excellent structure and concentration, though a bit too tannic as of yet. A few more years in the cellar.

This wine had a very nice flavor that opened up fairly quickly (about 30 minutes). Lots of sediment to be decanted out and the cork crumbled, but the wine itself had a nice fruit up front and a dry finish.

A Tuscan holiday in Singapore; 4/13/2006-4/17/2006 (Colin's flat, Singapore) : Alcohol, blackberries and some soft oak. A bit light with little fruit, showing some secondary notes and structure on finish but slightly disappointing.
