Samuel Adams Utopias

Very hard to describe this, various spirit barrel notes are the dominate notes, bourbon and rum barrels. It does have a note similar to tawny port but more the burnt sugar element of port. Not as sweet as port but probably 6-7% RS, decent acid, long alcoholic finish. Very unusual. I once aged a 20 year old fortified muscat in newly dumped bourbon barrels and got much the same effect including a jump in alcohol from 20% to almost 30%. …

dont get it! It's beer!

This was great! A very thick, viscous pour, a deep golden, with little carbonation. A very powerful nose, malty with prunes and plums, and more than a little booze. A rich mouth-coating taste, brandy, the dried fruit again, and a little spicy from the alcohol (29% I believe). A great sipper and apparently will last for extended periods as well.

Exceptional - a totally new experience. It doesn't look like beer in any traditional sense. And it's not brandy, in any real sense. But is actually is the former and looks and feels like the latter. Pricy, but worth the experience.
