Golden On the nose: apricots, dried fruit, pear, raisin. On the palate: Apricot, pear, bitter and sweet at the same time. There is a fine balance in the wine. Beautiful. medium + finish Quite consistent as previous note. Even that a lot of time has passed.

Golden yellow; sweet nose, pear; sweet expression (Humbrecht index 3), better than when tasted five years ago, seems to have pulled itself better together, rich in balance with sufficient acidity to hold it up; neither a dry nor a sweet wine - in between

A big wine, but somehow old-fashioned compared to present cool climate wave

Tasted in a lineup of 10 Rangen Pinot Gris wines. Made from biodynamically farmed, late-harvested Pinot Gris grapes from the Clos Saint Urbain monopole vineyard in Grand Cru Rangen. Bottled in September 2010. 14% alcohol. 27 g/l residual sugar, 4.35 g/l acidity and pH 4,0. Pale golden yellow color. Intense, fragrant and quite fascinating nose with aromas of wild flowers, some apricot marmalade candies, a little bit of dried peach, light volatile notes of ether, a hint of oxidative nuttiness …

Some Rare Day-Drinking Underneath the Oak Trees (Los Olivos, CA) : A wine of class and distinction. Admittedly it was hard to categorize this wine, but the enjoyment factor trumps classifications for me. We held it to the end of a leisurely meal, and it suited the occasion very well, both when opened at its most chilled, and as its temperature rose gradually in the summer heat. I could just as well see it as a brilliant aperitif, or with …

Pretty wine. Out of a half bottle. Scents are insanely peachy and honeyed. Flavours are definitely peachy, apricot, pineapple, maple syrup and candied citrus. The acid is starting to fade a bit, but it’s still enough to keep things brisk and not syrupy. The finish goes on for quite some time. A good post dinner, pre bed time good chatting wine. Drink up sooner than later!

Popped and poured. Golden yellow color. Very expressive on the nose. Floral notes and apricots. Medium plus acidity balanced by sweetness. This is going nicely with some spicy thai food we are having for Mother's Day Dinner. Some ginger and mango notes. Just hangs on the palate and doesn't fade. A very nice effort.

lychee and mango on the nose, is this botrytis affected? long finish, decent balance, could've used a bit more acidity

MEA Celebration at St. Genevieve (St. Genevieve) : Nico's bonus bottle. Popped and poured. I took no notes at this point, but this was quite impressive. We served this with dessert and it worked well. The sweetness was well balanced with acidity and was a fitting end to a great dinner.

Quick note from the W&S wine tasking, here in San Francisco. ZH's Pinot Gris Clos Staint Urban SGNG was outstanding. With RS of 147g/l, it is clearly some botrytis but not overwhelming. Luschious, with honey and spice - but not Gewurtz spice. A wine to drink by itself. A very special wine. Served in half bottles. ZH harvest note: "Winter was extremely dry, and coupled with very warm Spring weather pushed the vineyards to early flowering. A slight cold spell …

Creamy, charming in a bit chubby way, sweet, inviting, balanced, feminin like a Boticelli-engel; yet smoky notes as well, fine structure. #test
