Who makes white wine at 14.5% alcohol??? Silly. Even after six years there's too much heat. Nose is mostly grilled pineapple. In the mouth it's Honeycrisp apple and a bit of caramel. And oak. There's even a hint of grapefruit. Not my kind of wine, though clearly this style has fans.

It's trying to be a Meursault and I think it's doing a great job.

Intensely fruity, and imparting an impression of sweetness. Modest oak treatment, medium acid, good concentration.

Nothing wrong with this wine - it's perfectly serviceable, but my overall impression was that it lacked distinguishing character. But, to it's credit, showed decent balance.

Our third bottle. I tend to agree with the prior comments that this is out of balance, if not over oaked. Still pleasurable on its own but is a tough match for food with the strong oak running throughout. Though not my preferred style (can you say white burgundy), I enjoy a good Cali oaked chard. However this is not one of them.

This bottle comes off a bit over-oaked.

Wine tasting in Healdsburg; 8/14/2015-8/15/2015 : Butter, orange, lemon and citrus. $44 retail. Jen wasn't as much of a fan of this vineyard

This was out of balance - strong alcohol burn, woody - heavy without being rich. Just off compared to previous bottles. Odd considering these are screw-tops. Maybe the bottle got cooked in transit somewhere?

Opens with butterscotch, continues with bright fruity notes (pear, apricot) with minerality and lively acidity; rich but not cloying; seems to have found a sweet spot between Sonoma and Meursault.

Macrostie nails this one. Like an excellent Premier Cru Burg

Good balance - enough fruit to say "California", but not so blowsy and woody to say "ugh". Lacks a distinctive "malolactic" quality, which is a plus. A crowd-pleaser with out being shallow or sweet. Good QPR.

Very, very good Chardonnay. Well balanced, and not overly oaked as some prior vintages, displaying both upfront fruit and complexity. Aromas and flavors of sweet butterscotch; tart lime; fresh, juicy pear, and crisp apple underscored with a salty minerality component. Definitely more toned down than the 2007 vintage; also the producer has moved to a screw cap type enclosure in lieu of cork.

Light lemon yellow color; tart pear, ripe lemon, Golden Delicious apple, light hazelnut nose; tasty, tart pear, mineral, tart Golden Delicious apple, almond, hazelnut palate with a sense of salinity and good acidity; medium-plus finish (14.5% alcohol)
