Dark ruby red with pink rim. Blackcurrant, crushed petals, pencil shaving, cigar box and floral. Medium to medium-full bodied, medium-high tannin, medium structure, medium alcohol and long finish. Wine had entered tertiary phase. Tannin still on the high side despite fruits almost burnt out. In prime drinking window and should drink them up over next few years.

Eh. Thin for a merlot dominant blend, and while there is a hint of decent structure and grip, it's gone in a flash. Plus, a bit of green apple across the tongue and it's not a bottle I'm rushing to return to.

Very enjoyable - but I accidentally overdecanted due to a late start to a meal which muted the wine. Ready to drink now.

Beautiful Margaux from the excellent 2005 vintage. And that you can tell! Firm yet eloquent, powerful yet balanced. Medium intense aromas of cassis, blackberry, cherry, cigar tobacco, plastic dolls, cedar. Medium bodied palate with med+ acidity, firm but supple tannins, and flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, eucalyptus, laurel, espresso. Long finish. 13% - wine arrangement @ Wijnbar Pinot, Breda

Bordeaux: Second wines in great vintages. (Valuas) : In the bouquet dark forest fruits and good oak. On the palate red and dar berries, firm acidity, round and still youthful tannin. Overall a good wine with a pleasant balance between acidity and sweetness.

Not sure why I grabbed this on the way to dinner, since I knew it needed more time, but I did. Consistent with my notes of May 2015

Musky and woody , as time passed wood came thro as well as scents of an old barn which had been shut up . This said was very nice at end and will drink better with age,

Classic Margaux , strong nose of red berries , taste of berries , almonds , winter walks . Slight tannins probably 2+ years to mature . Will be very nice wine.

Still purple to ruby from bowl to rim. Nose was a bit muted despite the decant, though the Lascombes perfume was starting to show even after just 3 and 1/2 years from harvest. But there also was some "unripe green" (akin to celery) in the nose despite the hour decant. When I tasted the wine, it was good but there was a chalkiness in the fruit and more celery that made me regret my rashness in opening it. It also …

Earthy nose predominates with a hint of plum. Very little fruit on the palate, soft tannins and sharp acidity. The balance improves with time in the glass. Short finish.

As others have noted, this has a very bretty, barnyardy character that is frankly hard to get past. Lacks the sweetness of fruit to balance out the merde and I don't see anywhere for this to go but south.

This bottle was past it's peak. Little fruit left. Typical leathery, cedery tones on the palate and a medium length Tannins are quite resolved but don't leave a fine impression. There are better 2009 second labels out there for less money. 2009 Blason D'Issan for example.

Loads of bottle funk that took about an hour to blow off revealing gorgeous earthy red fruits, baking spices and burnt vanilla. Pleasant finish with just the right amount of chewiness.

Immediately after popping, had a barnyard/musty nose to it. Aerated the entire bottle and then decanted it for 4 hours. This cause the nose to greatly improve, and the wine had a fairly decent bouquet. Taste was still very off-putting. Will not buy or drink again.

Dusty nose with earth and barnyard notes. Subdued dark fruits with nicely balanced acidity and tannins. Lengthy finish rounds out this constantly evolving wine.

A horse managed to squeak into the bottle. Underneath the brett (which for me is more of a fault than a virtue) there is a very well balanced wine with interesting complexity.

Decanter Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark Hotel, London) : Fragrant nose. Nicely concentrated and tannic, but backward and primary right now. Decent finish.
