Domaine Manoir du Carra Fleurie Montée de la Tonne

An easy-going sipper from Fleurie in Beaujolais, though it did live up to its Cru status as a step up from the standard with a pleasant savoury side to go along with the host of red fruit. It's a deep, almost purple color with a rich, red rim. The nose is very floral, like standing in the middle of a botanical garden. The flavour is very fruit forward with notes of strawberry and blackberry, but it's tempered with mild tannins. It has a fairly quick finish, and is a rather refreshing, light bodied red. It paired well with steak, bringing out a subtle spicy note, almost like a Syrah.
