Caparsa Chianti Classico Riserva Doccio a Matteo

Nose of ripe cherries and cherry stones. Mouth of cherry, dark chocolate, leather, coffe with verry well integrated acidity and dry fine tannins. Did match fried foie gras very well.

Tried in London at L'Anima. I'd never heard of this producer. Big blast of VA right out of the bottle, but then it calmed down to show a surprisingly youthful wine with menthol, black fruit, and some sweetness. Later, the VA reasserted itself, so best with about 20-30 minutes of air.

Slightly over the hill, lacking complexity and length.

Very nice, sort of somewhere between a C Riserva and a BdM. No formal notes, but everything was there and even better when consumed with a nice meal as it was intended. Still, not mindblowing. 88pts.
