Gnekow Family Winery Old Vine Zinfandel Campus Oaks

For recent years an 89 is a bit low for OVZ but it still has the spice and bright fruit that counts in this label. I think this may be one that needs even more time...we'll see.

Maybe because i had this wine AFTER an earthy Mouvedere from Prima Materia...so this OVZ tasted like a Lodi zin. Kinda sweet. Always good - casual dinner: Manchego cheese, olives, almonds, garlic toast, and bacon wrapped dates.

Great with baked ziti -beef, sausage, cheese.

Floral, rasberry jam on the nose. Youthfull and fruity. Fruity almost sweet on the palate, very smooth tannins, medium acidity, high alcohol, very aromatic, but still balanced and attractive. Outstanding quality, should be drunk within 1-3 years.
