Another bottle that proves that red Burgs from top AOC villages can provide very satisfactory drinking decades later. In this case, the nose was the least impressive aspect, with satisfactory but not especially impressive notes of red fruit, sous bois and chalk dust. On the palate, more red fruit, but also, with precise acidity, resolved tannins and fine persistence, a sense of depth and balance that flirted with 1er cru quality. No, this was not the most complex of Burgs, …

Astringent and very unpleasant. What went wrong?

Austere, thin and weedy today. Lost all of it’s joy from a couple of years back. Hope it finds something new.

We had a lot of fun with this. Dijon mustard, frozen Jubbly, Old Spice (or similar old style aftershave). Really. The latter of those being particularly apparent. C mentioned it. I didn't give it a thought but it appeared to me later. Perhaps it shouldn't be such a surprise with the wood, leather and musk of the old aftershaves.

Has a nice, soft delicacy to it. Lovely fruit and good balance.

Extraordinarily reduced right now. Ok in spite of that, but wait a year or more before trying again.

Effusive earthy aromas upon opening. Vintage ripe. Earthy flavors against an iron-tinged spine. Some sour. Foursquare. I preferred the 2008 because of the brighter fruit and lively acidity. This didn't move much in two days, except the aroma dulled after the first hour. 87

Really enjoyable bottle of wine here. Brilliant fruit, nice Chambolle character, excellent tension and balance. Wouldn't have guessed '09 blind. A little bit of drying on the finish. Now+ 5-7 years seems about right.
