Ifune in NYC (Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse, NYC) : A fabulous wine that showed great poise and vigor for its age. Robust and full of life; rich and almost youthful. The tannins are fine and smooth. Outstanding wine.

PnP from 1.5 L. The cork was is perfect shape for a 12 year old bottle. Beautiful color with heavy bricking around the edges. The nose offers notes of carmel, stewed fruit, graphite, and pencil lead. On the palate the tannins are nearly non exsistant at this point although the acid is still quite lively. Med bodied at best with a satisfying finish. My have missed the best of this wine by a couple of years. would not sit on …

This wine was still holding on well. Good mature aromas, solid dark fruits with a very smooth mouth feel. The finish was a bit short on it's own, but was enhanced with the lamb we had as our entree. The ambiance of the evening did not hurt the impression of the wine.

This was a 1.5 Liter bottle. It was perfect in terms of age and finish, unlike comments made by others on the .75Liter bottles that had started declining in quantity. Upon opening, it had a full, fruity nose with cherry and casis notes. I served it with rosemarry chicken and it was a fabulous pairing. The finish was fabulous and the wine improved during the evening. I wish I had more.

1.5 offering. Still some tannins left in the front that followed through with its slightly oaky finish. Appears to be on its gradual downslide, but still enjoyable.

Oh the dust. This wine was very good on day one and day two. Blackberries, leather and licorice on the nose. Lush and full in the mouth with dark black fruits and the dust. Exceptional!

Muted fruit on both nose and palate. Smooth and satisfying, with mineral and earth. A bit of spice and some oak. I think I preferred a couple of years ago, but more than pleasant.

Wine aging well. Good balance. Nice affordable wine paired well with lasagna dinner.

The nose showed fig sauce, raspberry jam and sage. On the palate, I found juicy, sweet currant with allspice and black cherry leading into its long fresh finish. This was very drinkable and fun for a wine with 28 years on it.

Garnet in color. Nose with oak and vanilla. Not really a fruit-driven nose. Palate is quite smooth, but lacks a driving characteristic. The tannins are quite prominent and do provide decent structure through the mid-palate. Finish is a bit lacking. Overall a good wine, but not for the price--there are much better wines for less money.

Interesting comparison horizontal tasting of three 27 years. It was the 27 years age that was the reason the fruit was diminished to minimal. Earthy leather and flabby tannins prevailed with a slight bit of black cherry lingering on the flat tannic finish. The color was still holding albeit showing age. This tasted remarkably much like another '82, Chateau Citran - http://cellartracker.com/w?129293 in comparison tasting although this held more fruit and color. Interesting, it was the Sonoma Valley Fisher '82 …

Decanted for 2 hours. Nose was a bit suspect upon opening, in fact after I took an initial whiff I thought I was a tanted bottle. But it opened up later to reveal floral aromas as well as cherry spices and fruit. Upon tasting, this seemed a bit thin, and lacking in backbone. Disappeared on the mid palate with a short finish. Maybe I've been drinking too much good wine lately, but I remember enjoying the past couple of bottles …

Deep color, tight nose. Nice fruits with a hint of spice on the finish.
