Bold, dark cherry and black olive. Still strong fruit, but drink soon.

Deep purple color. Complex nose. Dark cherry, raspberry and plum on the palate. Better night two, although clearly at its peak.

This wine was much better 5 years ago. We let it go too long.

Continues to age well. The texture is softer but still excellent nose and fruit all the way through the finish. My last bottle so my time with Mandala ends... Been happy with the wine over the years

The 2007 Mandala explodes with intense notes of black fruit and blueberry. Drank with a one hour decant, but it continues to evolve over 2-3 hours. Full bodied and rich on the palate with smoky notes including blueberry, plum and black cherry. This is one of the best big basin Syrahs.

The wine is a deep, dark ruby to purple color. The explosive nose is full of blackberries, cassis, smoke, dark bittersweet chocolate, charred meat, melted licorice, vanilla, warm baking spices, and violets. This is full bodied with moderate to solid ripe tannins and good acidity. The wine grabs hold of your palate unleashing wave after wave of lush fruit, spice, and savory notes in unrelenting layers. The finish is very long, almost seeming to never end with very nice fruit …

Decanted for an hour. Became 'cleaner' and more fruit over 3hours. Wait a couple of years for next.

Good, ready to drink. Maybe a bit bold for me.

This has not performed well for me. Hot and heavy. I've liked most every broad and rich Big Basin red but this one is OTT, even when served with a chill.

Great Mandala. Earthy, creamy. This is a great wine, I just wish there were a little less heat. but to be honest, I only drink Big Basin's wines when I know tomorrow will be a slow day....

Note after 4 hours in the decanter. Deep, dark purple color. Smoky blackberries, dried herbs, meat juices, pepper, vanilla, violets, dark chocolate, baking spices, and a bit of cherry on the nose. Full bodied with solid, ripe tannins and good acidity. Rich, tasty fruit coats the palate with spicy notes providing very nice counter balance. Long, lingering finish with the spicy fruit and dark chocolate slowly fading. Tremendous wine with a lot of upside potential if it can be left …

Blackberries on the nose. Deep, dark fruit profile continues on the palate, juicy blackberries, blackcurrent, dark chocolate. Creosote and black pepper, subtle smoky french oak on the finish. Not what you'd expect from a Syrah-dominated blend, therefore a difficult wine to categorize, but easy to enjoy for what it is.

Deep, dark, intense black berry fruit on the nose. The palate shows yet more lashings of fruit, bitter chocolate, vanilla and fine grained tannins.

This has a lovely black cherry nose. In the mouth it has a full texture that delivers some plum, cherries and spice. The tannins are a little firm on the back end. A few more years will be good for this wine. Day 2: This has really smoothed out. I'm really enjoying this more now. I believe with a few years on this you will see scores go up.

Tasting Room: I found nice aromas and flavors here partly from the Cabernet in the blend. Very nice. $39

opened in Mike's recommendation. first bottle of a case. this is a great wine. big but not heavy. full bodied without being over the top. jammy but not in a aussie way. Bradley does syrah as good or better than anyone and this goes a long way to show it. This is easily a 20 year wine and I feel that it will benefit from a few years in the bottle. but its drinking so well now, if you have …

15.7% alcohol. Dark ruby red. A velvet hammer. Powerful, focused and smooth as silk. Lingering aftertaste. When considering California's finest young winemakers (Morgan Twain-Peterson, Thomas Rivers Brown, Cris Cherry, Jeff Brinkman, Wells Guthrie, etc.) don't forget Bradley Brown!

A very interesting wine by the iconoclastic and exceptionally talented Bradley Brown. It turns out this syrah has a bit a cab blended in. 15.7% alcohol. Dark ruby red. Love the nose, very pleasing and deep red and black fruit. Rich, concentrated and well balanced flavors highlight the cabernet, but also feature a syrah profile of creamy cherries and blackberry. Lingering aftertaste. Good now, this will improve for several years. I like it a lot.

I'm somewhat confused by the blend here. I'm not sure why Cab was included as it hasn't been before. Nevertheless still a nice wine although the nose and palate are a bit overwhelmed by the Cab component which wouldn't be bad except that's why I thought Bradley made the Odeon this year. Nice fruit concentration showing blueberry and a mocha profile that I'm guessing is from the Cab, kinda of a tamer version of the Odeon with some chalky tannins …

Not my favorite Big Basin. Although I loved the 2005 version, the fruit sources for this cuvee have shifted, and while it has its moments, the new cab component doesn't fit in the 15.7% frame and it finishes hot. The Fairview was far superior for me, I hope my other bottle of Mandala performs better. Looking forward to the top 2007s later this year.
