This was my first bottle of Riverain cab, and I was shocked how good it was. Among the five of us drinking a group of higher end Cabernets, it was the clear favorite. It was ready to go with a brief double decant and was simply gorgeous with its dark red cherry dominated nose and palate. Wow. Gone too fast!

The Riverain was deep purple and full of pronounced juicy flavors of black plum, blackberry, and black currant with velvety tannins…still very much in its youth—what you would expect from Oakville—with a long life ahead.

Black cherry, cherry tart, graham cracker, cola, blood iron, red dirt. Eastern Oakville and Tench, hell yeah, oh how I love thee!

Double decant and drank over 90 min. and ate with pecan smoked tenderloin bites. Early nose of kirsch, tilled soil, mushrooms, bourbon/cherry coke. Palate showed tart cherry/plum, hint of caramel and orange peel. More tertiary notes than expected at 9 years old. A fairly long finish that felt more like sherry than cabernet. Did not improve with air. I still kinda think I might have liked this, didn’t love it. Not seemingly flawed, but not a good bottle either. 50/50 …

Nine years old? Feels more like two. Still has not settled down from its exuberant youth, though perhaps that's just what it will always be. It's just this side of over-the-top, and while in the cocktail style of Napa Cabernet it's an enjoyable cocktail.

Year and half since last bottle. 3 - 4 hr decant. Loads of dark fruit relaxed tannins. Definitely a great expression of Napa Valley floor.

TN: Charity Tasting (Ramey, Massican, Pepiere, Patricia Green, LdH, Idlewild, Bedrock, Riverain and more) : The most popular red wine of the night. It showed beautifully, with lots of full bodied red and black fruit, and silky tannins. I only got a tiny pour, as the rest of it was gone in a flash!

Part of a Berserker day buy from a couple years ago. Decanted for an hour and it was ready to go. Tons of blue fruit and a crowd pleaser ... outperformed it's competition at $90. If you have more than one, don't hesitate in giving it a go.

Very nice open wine. Completely blew away the 2013 Chimney Rock Tomahawk last night. Everyone enjoyed this wine at our table.

Riverain (Oakville) : A generous tasting lineup of the 2013, 2014, 2015, and a new 2016 BBS Tench Cabernets. The flashiest of the three standard Tench Cabernets, the 2015 shows the hallmarks of the vintage, with a push of red and black cherry, red currant, and black raspberry fruit. Some vanilla and glycol around the edges, with a deeper concentration and drive than its 2014 brother. This is a drink now or hold kind of wine. It has good energy …

Deep, dark, silky, modern-style wine that has tons of ripe berry and cassis fruit. It shows no trace of heat, and drinks very well now. Open any time.

First stop on our eighth day in Napa Valley is to our friend Aaron to taste through some of the wines from Myriad Cellars, Bench Vineyards, Steltzner Vineyards, Riverain Vineyards and Flint Knoll. Eighth wine is from Riverain Vineyards and is their 2015 Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, all the 337 Clone. Dark and inky purplish ruby red. Rich and deep nose with black fruits, cinnamon with cocoa. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) with a full …

I brought this to a Memorial Day BBQ, and after a long day of "tasting", I can say that this wine has the goods. Another nice effort from TRB, sourced from grapes that I believe from a site somewhere in Oakville. (dont quote me though). Dark purple in the glass, very dense look to it, nice nose of blackberry, solid mid palate with good acidity that suggests this wine is built for the longer haul, and a nice finish of …
