Very typical New Zealand sauvignon blanc, with its pronounced aromas, ripe tropical fruit, and good intensity. This one shows good length too. Pronounced aromas of passion fruit, mango, lemon, buxus, grass, biscuit. Dry wine, medium+ acidity, light body, medium+ intense flavours of passion fruit, Solero ice cream, lemon, red apple, flint, wet stone. Long finish. 13% - €11,50 @ Aarts wijnen

Over fish and chips at the Lake Ferry Hotel in NZ. A simple quaffer, nothing great, but okay to wash our food down with. This was quite what the international audience has come to expect as the archetypal entry level NZ SB - passionfruit, guava and gooseberries on the nose; sweet white fruit, think white peach and gooseberries again, on the palate, all livened up by a splash of fresh acidity. Simple, but decent drinking.

Very mellow and refreshing. Contrary to popular opinion, I beleive that a few years bottle age helps NZ SB. Some of the yourger ones I've tated recently have been very fresh and a bit tart.

NobleRottersSydney - NZTrip - Martinborough (Martinborough) : {screwcap, 13%, NZ$16} Slightly sweaty, gooseberry-like/straw/asparagus nose. A near-dry (or seems so due to the high acidity) palate is fresh and tart, light-medium in body, and simple undemanding drinking. Saw this on sale in a Havelock bottle shop for NZ$12.
