Maison Alex Gambal Monthélie 1er Cru Les Duresses

This was a much much nicer bottle than recent past bottles of this same wine. It had all of the florals and bright fruit, matured, balanced. It was great. Best Bottle yet and makes up for his past ones. Thank you, at last! Thank you.

Showing its age with browning around the rim. Flavors still recognizable. This bottle was much more pinot like than one I opened a few months ago. But somehow, not quite as enjoyable, in spite of that. Go figure. Drink up.

Fruit and savory on the nose. On the palate its fruit, meaty/savory, soft tannins and easy drinking acids all wrapped up in an unusual package, even for a Monthelie! Very nice but if I tasted this blind I would never have guessed a Burgundy, no matter how "minor". Just too much of a savory thing going on to call it a Burgundy IMHO. Not stopping anyone from drinking it though..... Delish. What a little aging does to some wines.....
