Havent had the 14 since 2018. It was superlative in a vertical on that evening. Its still excellent, but I wouldnt wait longer. Corkage at troutbeck

After trying Jrme Prvost's La Closerie Extra Brut at Penny back in January, I've been on the hunt to try another one of this bottles. This 2014-base, 2017-disg. example of Les Beguines on the list at Chez Fifi was the perfect example of Prevost with the right amount of age. Originally skeptical at the 100% Pinot Meunier bottling, my worries were eased the moment I took my first sniff with the nose boasting gorgeous red berries, a hint of baked …

Another superb bottle of this. Beautifully ripe and so aromatic, with notes of ripe orchard, some soy sauce, a touch of oxidative notes too, some brioche, chalky minerality, some sweet spices, white flowers, and then again fresh orchards, too, as well as some hazelnut. There is just a touch of oxidative, perfectly integrated. It's pretty full-bodied, has bracing high acidity cutting through everything, and again a chalky mineral note adding grip to the slight opulence. Long finish with superb energy …

Not as exuberant as my last bottle a few years ago, this felt a bit tired. Better on day 2 but will revisit one of my remaining 2 bottles soon.

A bit more savory and oxidative than the LC13, and certainly less spicy and vivacious than the LC17 I had not too long ago, this LC14 is a comparative belly-showing Labrador once it gets a bit of O2 in its lungs. I suspect its peak is inside the next few years, with grilled lemon, olive oil, light red berry, and limestone notes notably balanced throughout the cadence of the execution. Not a ton of nerve, but there is enough tension …

blind I guessed BdN. Pleasant reluctant red berries without any annoying chocoloate or forrest ground notes. Close to his peak but at least 3-5 more years. 93

Sushi Lunch (Hatsu) : Still very youthful with some tertiary notes, red apple, strawberry mushroom, full of red fruits on the palate, rounded, high acid, dense with persistent finish. Oxidative notes emerge as it is sits in the glass. Could age for easily another 5-10 years.

LC14. In a great spot. Lively, energetic, precise, wonderful Meunier savory palate and with that decadent profile touch close to oxidative but that won't keep you of going back at it. Plenty of acidity, to drink or hold for years to come.

Coronation party. LC14, dense and phenolic, not for the beginner, oak, earthy elements, not oxidative but with good tertiary notes.

Damn, this was one of the best bottles of Beguines Ive had. With a few years this wine tends to become about minerality, and this was the perfect example of it. Great from the go but much rounder and more interesting with air, this showed a wonderful blend of stone, saline, a bit of chalk, wrapped in light honeyed touch. A textbook example of wine encapsulating terroir.

As much as I enjoy La Closerie on release (particularly LC19), allowing some bottle age for it to fill out and come into its own really does take it to the next level. LC14 is in the perfect spot offering up powerful, rounded and rich stone fruit with smoky minerals, toasted hazelnuts and a vibrant and chiseled palate with a touch of salinity on its super persistent finish. Pinot Meunier from the master, it just cant be matched.

The LC14 is one of the better examples of Beguines that I've had in recent memory. Bright florals, honey, stone fruit, rich, mineral driven, and oxidative. Greatly improved with air, which helped it become more pronounced on the mid-palate and finish. Delicious!

You might as well say it right away: I didn't understand anything about this wine. Yeasty nose on the granny apple. The palate has a nice acid structure and tension for a Pinot Meunier, a juice with a finely oxidative character, it is promising but ... It stops there. The whole remains on the surface on a disturbing rectitude, it is straight, strict and as rigid as a new convert. It lacks stimulus at the end of the palate, and …

Loaded on citrus fruit, and white flowers. Streaky minerality with bright lively acidity. With air, the fruit just continues to expand in expression. Yummoooo.

Decanted to serve. Such pure expression, so elegant, so soft. I think the age really makes wonders here, not too powerful, but contemplative. 94-95

blind It is always astonishing to drink such a precise and elegant Pinot meunier. Saline, discreet fruitieness, filigree but with a lot of power in the finish. In a great stage now. 93

Fresh and vibrant, bright and juicy acidity; lees, earthy/mineral notes, lemon zest and green apple. Tasty and better with food than alone.

A beautiful nose apple and pear, fresh strawberry, subtle florals, honey, and a little cream on the nose. Midweighted, graceful and beautifully lifted on the palate. It's intense and dynamic, yet finely detailed. Deftly done dosage is about perfect for my palate. Chalky notes on the mouthwateringly clean finish. Terrific, harmonious wine. 94 A terrific pairing for Maryland crab cakes.

Deep yellow color with a touch of golden. Explosive aromatics of small red berries, white flowers, yellow stone fruit, pear, sweet spices, chalky minerality, also a touch of honey and brioche. Its medium-full bodied, with excellent persistence, has pretty high acidity and just overall beautiful complexity that is building up over the course of the evening. Very long finish with plenty of tension and complexity. Another great year at Prevost.... whats new?! From my perspective year after year the best …

Another excellent bottle from Prevost; the nose was earthy and redolent of red berry fruits, a hint floral notes and orange peel, a bit of crushed stone, and just a hint of autolysis. The palate was delicious and showed good concentration. Very enjoyable. In comparison this did not quite have the depth of the LC 12 had several months ago, but was still quite tasty.

Les Beguines, Fac-Simile, Climax and Iota Tasting of Jerome Prevost (Concept Riesling Dsseldorf) : Maybe the "weakest" in this small vertical. Less concentration and the most impressive nose. Freshness and chalkieness. 93
