Edna Valley Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Smooth, still drinkable, but showing its age. Not strong varietal character, but o.k. for drinking by myself, but not good enough for guests.

Decent quaffer, nothing special.

Nothing particularly memorable about this wine. Nose a bit lacking in character. Palate with dark fruits and some vanilla. Moderate finish.

Stir-fried beef. Alone, began with blueberry, chocolate, cigar box flavor and not much aroma. The rich food brought out ripe fruit flavors much more and a nice peppery dry finish and aftertaste. Surprisingly good Cabernet for this price. A dinner wine for spicy meat dishes.

Nice nose. Strong dark fruit and spice on the palate, and the finish is good. It wasn't very smooth, however, and it seemed worse as time went on. For that price, you could probably get something better.
