Feels fuller and definitely more mature than when younger. Very velvety and smooth

Opaque and fairly youthful ruby. Assertive and fairly pleasant nose of vanilla and cherry. On the palate, loads of sweet fruit - something between cherries and prunes - and loads of vanilla ice cream. Just a touch of tannin and acidity. This is not a bad wine, but it's all about the oak, and the ripe/over-ripe fruit. It doesn't speak of Vulture to me, not even of Italy. If anything I am hearing a Californian accent, which is all very …

This seems to have fallen apart since I last had it. Certainly I will not be drinking my one remaining bottle in the near future, in the hope it comes together with age. Today, a disjointed glassful of super-ripe fruit, caramel and vanilla ice-cream. Too much oak is the obvious problem, on top of too much sweet fruit. In recent times I have much preferred their standard bottling rather than this more expensive Riserva. 14%.

Glowing purple. Assertive and pleasant nose of caramel, cherry candies. On the palate: very lively, due to alcohol (14%) acidity and balsamic/cherry flavours. Very fine tannins, though not too many of them. A very interesting wine, full of character. I've seen this area's best wines compared to Barolo, but if they might be comparable in potential longevity (I abstain on that) they seem to be more immediate in their appeal, less austere but more angular than Barolo as I know …
