Dark reddish purple in color. Very shy on the nose initially (poured via Coravin). Better after 3+h; blackberries, black cherries, warming spices, herbs and soil on the nose. Seriously dense palate for a Gamay that shows old vine intensity and excellent mid palate sap, tart black small fruits, touch of black pepper, very good acidity, earthy notes and a spicy finish.

Bought on release, drank the other bottles, missed this one ... attractive nose, dense granitic soil aromatics and palate ... feels like its halfway to someplace Far, Far Away from banal usual Bojo. At 24 hours no deterioration. I think I rather like this wine and wish I had mags and 20 more years for it to unfold. Rare.

High pitched nose of cranberry with some earthiness. Light bodied. Long acidic finish with nice impression of sour cherries. Simple, but very drinkable and food friendly.

Shockingly good, considering that the last three bottles caused me to believe that this had seen its best days. The Delys is truly a special cuvee, not as richly toned or as brambly as the Cote de Py, but a tiny bit more elegant and spicy when at its peak. An incredibly high, and hard to justify score for a Beaujolais. Drinking at peak. Beautiful fruity nose, and a palate redolent of Gamay fruit, great acidity and unobtrusive tannins. Blows away any of the 2009's that I thought so much of. Drink now. Hard to imagine it will get much better.

Que passa? A year+ ago, this was the best all-around Morgon we tried, in close competition with the Lapeirre CML and the Foilalrd CdeP.. The last three bottles have shown a dry, somewhat acidic overlay and whle the fruit is still there in the center, a rougher outer layer carrying the nicely crafted wine. I am hoping this could be a temporary hibernation.

Delicious. Standout bojo. Fruit forward, with dark cherry and plum notes, but with a seam of acidity and rocky coolness to keep it balanced. Good density and length. Higher abv than I’m used to but doesn’t show. Probably better in another few years to develop another layer of complexity but excellent now.

Ruby with lightening around the edges. Lovely bouquet of morello cherries, spice, florals and forest-floor. Very silky and elegant on the palate showing sweet-tart briary red fruits, good dash of pepper, good acidity, no tannins and a long earthy finish.

Bright crunchy red fruits highlighted with rose petals, earth and a bit of spice. Just the slightest suggestion of forest smells on the nose and palate. Silky texture, medium density, good finish. No heat. Drinking beautifully right now.

Yet another delight. The dark blackish purple red is misleading as the flavor profile , while typical in its black pepper, deep purple,fruit and wet earthy profile , remains such an elegant evocation of the new Cru Beaujolais quailty explosion. As the wine reached room temperature and the flavors wafted from the glass, it was evident how refined a Hand Bouland adds, bringing the core deep purple fruit into a structure of tannic balance and soft, nerve- touching enjoyment.

Another delightful bottle and so summer appropriate. But a slight lack of balance this time suggests that Gillman is right that this needs years to unwrap a deeper, more complicated core. A tiny bit of petillance upon opening, with a grapey first thrust , embroidered by interwoven dark cherry, leather, a hint of licorice, and much moist soil. Acid began to predominate 30 minutes in so more time recommended.

This has to be one of the best QPR behind the LRA 904. A crisp, nicely delineated attack with bright tart cherry, dark cherry, a hint of fern, mint and plenty of black pepper, all with the elegant style of Morgon that always sets the Delys apart. Foillard is the master of Morgon, while Bouland delivers a more medium bodied and mellifluous wine. And 2014 remains my vote for cru Beaujolais vintage of the decade.

Color is dark garnet with lightening at the rim. Nose shows dark fruits - cherry and plum - tinged with spice and earth. On the palate, there is a beginning of rich, round fruit then almost immediately framed with acidity and finishing with same acidity and tannin. This bottle has been opened for two hours and it's now drinking better. The aromas are nice, but a bit surprisingly for a '14 the fruit notes are tending towards the darker side, almost approaching some plum skin. Now that plum skin also includes hints of acidity, which are here as well, but the complexion at first is slightly off putting. 80% opaque, dark ruby visually. Gorgeous Gamay grapeyness on the nose backed amply and undeniably by crushed rock. Haunting meloncholy autumn leaves. Tea. Amazing. Bold but balanced with silky drinkability combined with acidity and tannic grip that makes this the complete package. A stunningly good value. The kind of wine that mkes you want to jump on a plane and visit the producer. Hard to find but worth seeking out.

A very good entry level although still somewhat young but quite serious non-beaujolais nouveau gamay wine from Beaujolais in Burgundy that stylistically hearkens back to the days of the more serious single vineyard Beaujolais gamays - a good QPR. Young Morgon (Mostly 2014's) (SF Wine Trading Company) : Deep ruby. Complex aromatics of camphor and blackberry jam. Medium weight with terrific sap. Deeply imbued black fruit with natural sweetness, strong but not screechy acidity, great sense of soil, classic, drying tannins. Wow, in Gamay terms, this is pretty profound stuff. The most impressive bottle of the day, even next to 2 of my favorite Beaujolais producers-bravo!

This checks a lot of boxes for me in the daily drinker category. Great wine here. Big and a bit tough at this point. Give it a 60-90 minute decant or, ideally, a few more years to unwind. Medium-plus acidity, medium-light body, bright red fruit and cherries that dance in the mouth, coupled with some earthy Morgon notes and a bit of pine freshness. Unremarkable finish. $26.

Incredible nose of black cherry and black raspberry with a very subtle earth and coffee note. The nose is ripe and saturated but decidedly old world. Great balance on the palate, great concentration of dark fruits with blackberry acidity, and a dusty red fruit finish. Needs more time as I think this will integrate and pick up some more complexity!

Notes from day 2. Dark ruby in color. Nose of red fruit, little grape with florals, spice showing as well. Palate of cranberry, pomegranite, herbs, spice. The finish was average to above average in length, good acidity and structure. Overall a very solid wine which should improve with cellaring, but with a proper decant you can enjoy right now as well. 4

A finely made new wave small producer fine cru Beaujolais. Like many 2010s, I would drink up despite some aging potential. While the 2009s have adequate fruit to await more complexity while shedding some attractive early forward fruit, and the 2011s are both spirited while young but definitely worth aging as well, the 2010s appear to lack that fruit. Intense gamay fruit nose, tannins well-structured. Substantial but not heavy on the palate. Opened up considerably after two days in the wine cooler, taming the tannins and making for a very well-balanced wine. Recommend decanting or ample breathing for future bottles. One of the best Morgons I have tasted. Highly recommended.

Garnet in the glass, pomegranate on the nose, with a little spice, light bodied, lean and tart, soft tannins. I'm afraid I was not enormously impressed.

2010 vintage

I am hoping that this is just young--or in a transition. The fruit is very nice on the palate and there is sophistication in the the delivery. Opened and encountered a harsh acidic profile; over an hour the wine developed some balance, with the acids--not just tannin-- dissipating a little but still interfering with the enjoyment with or without food. After some exceptional 2009s and some very pleasant and sophisticated 2010s (more typical of the history), I was quite disappointed.

E&R's 3rd Annual Beaujolais Weekend; 11/17/2012-11/18/2012 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Bright, thick, and big aromas. The palate is large too, with rich and thick flavors, balanced with pleasing bright, but mild cherry fruit. The finish is really tart and puckering, but showing good depth and nice acidity.
