Whirlwind Winter Tasting in the Valley; 2/7/2018-2/10/2018 (Napa Valley, CA) : This was a really interesting wine and a treat to experience. A Sauv Blanc built to age. The nose here is a dead ringer for champagne. Raw almonds, vanilla, creme brulee, some honeysuckle and a yeasty element. None of the typical citrus fruit. Nicely texturized, with notions of melon and apricots. Not real long but totally unusual and cerebral.

This is more of a reductive sherry-Champagne hybrid than it is SB. Fantastic! I don't normally drink SB and when I do, I am rarely blown away. This was such a nice style of SB that I was completely surprised. It had all of the traditional fruit and grass profiles, but nothing dominated. They all blended nicely, in harmony, for your drinking pleasure.

Quite typical California Sauvignon Blanc at the high $20 price level. This is a very ripe rîch and creamy white wine. On the edge of being flabby, it does not have the crisp malîc acid we get on most typical Sauvignon Blanc's. Light golden color. Hoñeysuckle and mild lemon nose. Sweetish melon, pear, Apple and pineapple fruit in the approach. Not quite acidic enough for my pałate. Some orange rind flavor in the roof of the mouth. Honey and apple …
