Peter Bourne - Supper (Bibo Wine Bar, Darlinghurst) : Red over black fruits, slight caramel notes, herbaceous note shows mint with time, sweet spice, cedar, tiny alcohol prickle. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, red over black fruits, a little tart, alcohol warmth, lean for me, silky tannins are integrated and have a touch of rasp on the finish, quite red hued fruit dominate. Not really my bag.

2019 vintage

I thought this would be well past it's prime but boy was I wrong. It held its structure beautifully with silky fine tannins a medium acidity but quite a thin body without being watery in any sense. On the nose was leather, and a red and black fruit bouquet with a little green stemminess. Red and black fruits were found on the pallette too with candied raspberries blackberries and some vanilla. Honestly outstanding and surprising for its age.

Beautiful length. Juicy fresh berries. Let breathe for about an hour and got better over time so will let the next bottle breathe for longer

Wow!!! What some extra time in the bottle does. Ox-blood in color. Full bodied. Pak, all spice, hunts of eucalyptus, dark fruit of the nose. Perfectly balanced. Unctuous. Longish finish. Tastes likenthe nose. Thisnwine is absolutely brilliant. It's in the zone now. Drink or hold up to three years. Smash burgers on the grill for dinner

Cellartracker in the flesh with VinTomas (Noi Restaurant, Petersham) : From half bottle. Non delineated red and black fruits, sweet spice, cedar, a little herbaceous underpin, close. Juicy, fleshy, tangy, very slightly sour red over black fruit, slightly alcohol warmth isn't too intrusive, cedar, tannins are silky, drying, frit grows with time but remains red dominant. Hmm.

Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon) : Sweet and ripe smelling black and red fruits, sweet oak spice, touch of raspberry compote as well is slightly fruit lozenge and there is a little fresh basil leaf. Juicy, textured grip is slightly drying, fruit as per the nose. Quite pleasant.

***See previous notes Decided it was time to check in again. Has balanced out. Tatse profile has integrated but it still has a way to go. I want so much more out of this wine but it's still not delivering. Let's see what the next bottle brings in a couple of years. Steak and twice baked potato dinner. BRITT makes the best potatos. I cooked the steaks. All delicious.

NobleRottersSydney - Yarra Yering (Fix, St James, Sydney) : {screwcap, 13.5%} CabS, Merlot, Malbec and PV in a 67/15/12/6 ratio. Pure cabernet nose; currants and subtle French oak. A bit raw but classy. Medium weight. Sound cabernet palate, although fairly lean and herb-like. Even palate, medium length finish. Has some potential, yes.

Yarra Yering Tasting - 2020 vintage (At home) : 60mL tasting bottle. Dense, dark fuchsia. Gentle on the nose but with harnessed power on the palate. Deep, spicy, and dark fruited with blackcurrant, cherry, toasted spices, bay leaf. Showing some new oak influence on the palate, with a gentle floral lift on the finish. Cellar for 12-15 years. Lovely Cabernet.

2020 vintage

Highly perfumed and beautifully balanced. Notes of mint, tobacco, cassis and violets. It is silky of texture, with latent power. It has terrfic presence but is light on its feet and the extremely long finish is carried by perfectly ripe tannins.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like violet and raspberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Real Review - Top Wineries of Australia (Campbell's store, Circular Quay West, The Rocks, Sydney) : Red over blackcurrant, mint, sweet spice from polished oak, a little red berry and plum. Juicy, fleshy, grippy drying, slightly coarse tannins close down the palate a bit, flavours persist beneath this long. Hmm.

Day 1, popped and poured: Alluring bouquet of blackcurrants, violets and baking spices. Medium-bodied and with a distinct line of acidity woven in, lively blackcurrant fruit with some smoked meats, polished ribbons of medium-bodied persistent tannins that are ninja-like - sometimes they are in the background, sometimes they creep up on you with a crescendo increase in intensity. Good length. Really wonderful and promising. Pretty approachable at the moment as well.

Clear WOTN in Yarra 2019 Virtual Tasting. Structured. Very youthful. Mixed berries but trending darker = a little dry herbs and meats secondary. Medium bodied and firm pronounced tannins. Grapenomad's tasting note is pretty much spot on. 2011 was a terrible year for the Yarra, but the team at YY have made a simply outstanding wine. Great structure, well integrated cabernet and good red fruits. I personally would also suggest popping and pouring - don't decant this one lest you get more cabernet coming through.

Many say that this the 2011 is not an outstanding vintage, but this to me is the benchmark of Australian Bordeaux blends. I believe that they shine best when vintages are cooler. Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.) : There's definitely a theme of vegetal for all of the wines from this era of the winery with this wine maker. Here it's capsicum (green pepper) and secondary flavors and again a real dearth of the fruit. Not quite as compelling for me.

The 2011 YY No1 has a deep dark crimson colour and a nose of cassis, dark plums, eucalyptus and blackberry leaf. The palate is smooth and full with a touch of eucalyptus that detracts from the classic Cabernet fruit which is somewhat subdued. The finish is quite fine with the overall impact that of a well structured wine but somewhat atypical for this wine.

This had more classic tobacco and dark fruit, albeit with a warmth that doesn't come across as quite Bordeaux or California. Some bloody, iodine elements with time, and it does flatten out a bit from an initially well balanced, mature profile. A solid wine, but time to drink up.

Decided to check in on this after a Yarra Yering '15 vintage tasting earlier in the week. This is subtle. Showing some slight development but still primary with Cabernet dominant, followed by the Malbec. In a good place. Very nice but not groundbreaking at this point.

Auswine offline (Darlinghurst, Sydney) : No ullage. Incredible deep deep red colour with no hint of lightening. Magnificent nose dominated by secondary aromas – cedar, tobacco, and a patina of polished leather over aged blackcurrant fruit. Rich and spicy, a full palate free of holes, powerful and yet subtle, with a long finish. Absolutely delicious, a magnificent wine from an ignored vintage. Wow!
