Honeyed nose infused with some ginger. The palate is nicely tertiary, with interesting mushroom notes combined with herbs and yellow fruit. However, this is predominantly mineral, with a light nuttiness from the tertiary characteristics. Structurally taut with good tension throughout the wine. Perhaps the alcohol is a bit ponderous, but there's still plenty of energy and lift.

Reductive upon opening, but blew off after 30 minutes. A beautiful golden color, lovely mouth feel, lemon and orchard fruit. Paired wonderfully with seared sea bass, Kobacha squash purée, agrodolce onions, saffron vinaigrette, and pomegranate.

Seems unfair for me to rate as I think this was drinking as it should have and in good shape too for the age. Just not my style of reisling - falls flat for me w/ overly round/viscous texture and no acidity. not enjoyable

Nose is a bit reticent, subtle lime and white florals. Palate is full of white peach, lime rhind, minerality and high acid. It does have some weight mid palate and feels a bit clunky at times but overall drinking great. Finish is dominated by citrus and a little warmth. Great now and ready to go but still has plenty of life ahead.

A powerful, full bodied, warm vintage example of Knoll Riesling. The nose is very mineral driven, lemon zest compliments by earth, wet leaves and wet stone. Dinner at Jade Court (Chicago, IL) : Sharpie marker, aldehydic, and very high-toned on the nose and palate. Some nice white florals here, and enough acidity to keep the sweeter elements in check, but overall, not too much a fan of those elevated notes.

Sunday blinds (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind. There's a bit of high-toned aldehyde/Sharpie marker here on the nose, but otherwise, this is an incredibly aromatic wine, with some really nice florals. Based on the nose, I wanted to go to viognier, but the acidity wasn't quite right for that -- there was just too much of it and the cut here was simply a lot sharper than most northern Rhones.

Quite an interesting wine which combines the acidity and firmness of the dry Rieslings with a bit of a richer, light sweeter core of fruit. Interestingly this tops alc of 14.5% too albeit it carries it well. Very solid wine and an easy 91.

Shows very green fruit, with a sweet edge, like kiwi or honeydew, but it's so green that there's a definite vegetal edge. Medium weight with good concentration and wonderful minerality. I really like the minerals and I still enjoyed it overall but the vegetal component gets stronger with air and keeps me from really loving this.

classic aged knoll riesling, yellow gold colour. thanks to 1997 and it's quality it is elegant from nose to tail. apricots, minerals, apples, pineapples. medium body and acid. not a power-wrestler, more like roger moore as james bond. my first knoll i bought nearly 20 years ago and it proves that correct cellaring is a very important factor, stunning. will be interesting to drink over the next years.

Pop n' pour. This is in a mature plateau and right where I like my dry Riesling. Nose has some depth with aged wooly white fruit, minerals and cider spice. The palate has medium body and good density. Moderate+ acids keep it fresh though its not exactly taut/tangy at this stage. Solid.

Bottle was purchased on a trip to Austria and brought back--boy am I glad I did and what a way to remember the visit! The nose on this wine is wonderful. I get nectarines, honey and melon, followed by white flowers and a salty/mineral component. On the palate, this Riesling is light- to medium-bodied with a nice cut of acidity in the midpalate. Wachau - fine wines from the difficult 2014 vintage, and some other treasures; 9/14/2015-9/18/2015 : Closed aromatically, perhaps a hint of smoke (or SO2?) The entry packs a strong acidic punch which grows more identifiably lemon-like on the mid-palate with an attractive stony quality (like licking stone dust?) Short finish. 87-89P?

Purchased off the wine list at La Veranda on our last evening in Prague. Popped and poured. Gold hue. Nose of alpine floral notes, white stone, peach, and citrus. Palate demonstrated full, almost opulent layers of grapefruit, lime, and white peach balanced by sharp, energizing acidity and a flinty mineral spine. Very long finish of white fruit, stone, and cut. Nicely done and an excellent pairing with octopus and sea bass.
