Dominant toasted nuts, biscuits, slightly creamy texture, vanilla, ripe yellow fruit, salty minerals, limestone, butter, moderate oak touch. it would be good to let it sit for another 5 years or so.

2018 vintage

Birthday dinner at Fragment : Guessed early '90s Meursault. Rich, old-school wine with some toffee and hazelnut notes that gained freshness and acidity with air. Rounded but beautifully proportioned, new-school Burg whites simply don't have the same presence. Always a treat to have a '92 white Burg and was thankful that this was a beautiful example.

A lovely pale straw colour, some vanilla custard and baked apple on the nose. Quite citrus on the palate, limes, mineral and plenty of acidity. Not as good as my last bottle but very nice.

Lafon and Clos Vougeot Dinner with Pierre Lafon (Asador Bastian - Chicago IL) : Alongside 2013. Bright apple and pear with some nutty and buttery notes in classic Meursault form. Not as complex as the 2013, but drinking better right now.

Lafon and Vougeot with Pierre (Asador Bastian) : 13 | 14 pair. Vintage character really came across in this flight. The 2014 was more full throttle and seamless with plenty of delicious fruit and juicy acidity. Kept opening up in interesting ways to show more nuances. Early peak drinking.

I am hard pushed to think of a more glorious village burgundy than this. Quite cool on the nose, some notes of lime leaf and clementine. The merest hint of matchstick on the palate, some citrus, baked apple and wet stone. A lovely combination of richness and minerality that builds on the finish.

Well, what can you expect from Dominique Lafon… Greatness of course. This certainly delivers in regard to greatness. Quite mature but still got great freshness and is very vibrant with citrusy notes on the palate.

Depth and elegance at the same time, not as rich as the 2017 Charms drunk ay the same occasion but that actually make the whole experience more balanced.

Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault-Boucheres 2019. Den gjør mindre ut av seg enn Roulot. Mye av det samme, men en nedskalert og slankere utgave. Skikkelig fast i fisken med høy presisjon. Celebrating the lease signing for our new wine storage venture (Blacksalt, Washington DC) : Although uniquely Burgundian, it is a beautifully formulated wine that bears some resemblance to Aubert in its opulent, ripe fruit. Nose: fresh pineapple, pear, white flower Notes: 12.5% ABV. This is still very refreshing and has an incredibly sweet nose. This is rich and relatively fully bodied. My second bottle these couple of months and this showed consistent notes. A nice village with good complexity for its level. Drink: now+ Rating: 89

2011 vintage

POB gala dinner. Agree with the couple of notes that this is typical and characteristically Lafon. From magnum, this was showing very well with ripe orchard fruits, straw and reduction on the bouquet. Palate shows off seamlessness and balance with already good integration of oak. Slight tannins on the finish as well. This will do well now but definitely better in 3-5 years.

Very complex nose and this indeed shows the potential of the vintage and what a good maker in a good vintage is capable of acheving, Porusots is clearly not the Domaines top product but I think it is still performing very well and feels promising . Added to a Good, Bad & Ugly double blind tasting. Deep golden, nearly caramel, color. Nutty, caramel, honey, tropical florals. Medium bodied, almond, honey, minerality, hint of pineapple, wonderful depth and acidity. Great showing.

Lack the sensation for such a vintage. Fat, which I guess is fair for Lafon. Peaked.

A bit more extant oak than I'd prefer but boy the underlying stuffing is superb with rich florals and orchard fruit. Great density to the fruited palate, persistent finish. Very good.

Top flight White Burgundy for E&R's 25th anniversary (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Strangely, this wine smells like potato vodka. Weird, and of course, rather off putting. The texture on palate entry is chalky, and the flavors are quite flat. It just tastes too old, honestly. Decent acid and structure on the finish, but the flavors here too are strange and not exactly enjoyable... the structure nature of the wine does still provide some pleasure, though.

Great bottle of this which is definitely at full maturity but still with some nice vigor and good richness and acids. Layered and complex with a lovely minty note on the saturated finish.

Comtes Lafon Meursault Boucheres 2019. Sexy! Norske epler, blomster, parfyme og stein. Rent med flott intensitet. Anslaget utrolig rent og lekkert. Bra konsentrasjon på en lettbeint intensitet. Formfull samtidig som den har friskheten i full behold. Drikker faktisk meget bra nå, selv om den vil utvikle seg i lang tid. Meget lang finish som brer seg nydelig ut. The wine looks greenish gold colored. It smells like lime and tangerine. The body is medium/full. The wine has low acidity. Not bad but a bit disjointed / lacks the usual balance found in this producer.

Florals and oak-derived spice, latter of which is pretty but probably a bit more extant than I'd want at nine years of age. But incredible, almost painful density so the oak treatment isn't insane. Very good.

Surprised there’s still 300+ bottles of this floating around in CT cellars; bright yellow with a green tint (like a nice Chablis); citrus, green apple, effusively floral; good extract and acidity; graceful and balanced; clearly a slow ager!!! Great for a “mere village wine”. 94

Great Village in a challenging year. Still, Lafon brings the goods with all the characteristics you expect from one of his wine; perfectly ripe fruit, beautifully integrated oak, nice freshness. Very "Lafon" wine.

Quite a muted nose. On palate rather concentrated fruits, quite broad, some lemon, pineapple, apricot. Touch of butter. More traditional style - less acidic and linear versus some other Meursaults. Very nice, soft and round but I wonder if lacking just a bit of acidic zip (or arguably purity of fruit if you think the lack of acidity is the Lafon style). Still very good.

I’m concerned by the lack of enthusiasm in these notes. This wine really needed a few hours of air to breathe after which it blossomed. Beautiful reduction, Flinty and dripping, with concentrated pear and slate. Long finish with ample acidity. This was a marvelous example of what went well in 2018.

Nice wine for easy drinking. Ready now. Bright, crisp and tasty without being overly complex or challenging. Not a match for some of Lafon's other 1ers in this vintage.

The Verticals Tasting at 2023 La Paulée (Eventi Hotel, New York) : Light yellow. Scents of flowers and discrete oak. Medium weight, lively citrus, excellent acidity. Elegant and delicious already although still quite tight. At least excellent long term potential.

THAT Super Village (Yan) : I have often found the Meursault Desiree lieu-ditx to require a bit more time than the straight up village. Tonight this was quite representative of the vintage but not quite the lafon style, did it perhaps require more time? Bouquet showed ripe yellow fruit, lemon cream and nashi pears. Palate was surprisingly lean - lemon rind, grapefruits and almonds. While it got a bit layered towards the end of the night, I definitely enjoyed it …

Knight of Wine’s bottle. A revelation to me since I had quite wrongly assumed that Porusots would not be as compelling as the “big three” vignobles of Meursault. Perhaps the wonderful 2014 vintage character is partly to praise. The wine is limpid yellow and very pungently fragrant of lime and white truffle. Wild and distinctive, medium full and quite persistent. Fully ready on the front side of maturity and a great accompaniment to a variety of cheeses.

My first bottle of this vintage. A classy wine as expected, and a fun pairing with the 2014 Lafon Perrieres. Lafon's recent Poruzots vintages (2017 & 2018) seem to have an extra gear, while this 2014 didn't. My current mantra: Lafon Meursault=Heaven. And tonight was no exception.

Still clear, limpid light straw. Pear, touch of quince, black pepper spice. Maybe let down a little by the slightly short finish, and lacking the complexity and depth of stronger vintages. Well done though for the year and village level. Drink now
