And a good spot, but certainly no hurry. Quintessential Napa cab. PnP, but I’d advise opening and decanting several hours before drinking.

The wine is in a great spot. Very balanced with the fruit still shining through. Underlying tones of vanilla contribute to a lovely bouquet . Well made wine.

Decanted 1/2hour. Last bottle purchased from winery. This has markedly improved since last bottle. Flavors have deepened with no harsh notes. Currant, espresso, herbs in a full bodied wine with long finish. Drink or hold.

Two hour slow ox. Deep rosy ruby color (like a Cali Pinot). Strawberry leaf, Captain Crunch cereal, and subtle mushroom on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with vibrant acidity. Firm, but low intensity tannins on the medium long finish. This is past its prime for my palate.

Popped and poured on site. An auction purchase that was mislabeled as a different bottle. My lone bottle but this was showing marvelously. So smooth but still plenty of structure so no urgency to drink but this was one of my older Turnbull bottles left. I keep drinking these when they get to the right age. Decanted and started drinking. Black currant, dark chocolate,herbs. Full bodied, great finish. In a good place with possible upside.

Opened another from the cellar as I thought it was becoming approachable. Nope, it was not as open as the last bottle only 3 months ago. It is throwing fine sediment that adheres to the bottle, but not at all giving what it can even after 4 hours of decanting. Wait a couple more years at least.

Beautiful nose when opened, but was tight on the palate. After 2 hours in the decanter, it started opening up and was delicious. No hurry on opening this one, but if you do, give it some decant/swirling time or you will miss the beauty of this wine.

For a 2014 surprisingly not ready for consumption. I plan on waiting 3-4 years before opening any of my remaining bottles of Leopoldina. In stark contrast to other Turnbull offerings from this vintage this remains tightly coiled and tannic and stayed that way over the hour or so while being consumed.

Drinking really beautifully right now. Great dark fruits with an almost sweetness that resolves in fine tannins and light acidity. Not sure how long this bottle had been opened. I thought it was slightly less complex than the 2015 but more approachable now.

Chocolate, cherry, cassis on the nose. Vibrant fruit on the palate, with balanced tannin and notes of strawberry, black currant and tart cherry. Surprisingly lacks the blue notes I've come to expect from turnbull's cabs.
