Was delicious with grilled lamb chops tonight! Palate was a bit wound up at open - acid and tannins stood out. With some time in the air, the wine opened up nicely - fruit stepped up to balance other elements. Didn't feel like this basic cuvee has the structure to continue to age beyond the next 2 years. Have two of their 2011 vineyard cuvees in the cellar - hoping they have a bit more staying power.

Decanted for an hour. Dark fruit, nice and refined, has calmed down in the past three years, still strong tannins. Nose shows blackberries and plum, palate has dark fruit with a touch of bitter chocolate. Delicious with grilled meats and vegetables!

Way late on posting this TN, so all I remember is that this was very nice.

Dark fruits (cassis, sloan, blackberries), dark chocolate, herbs, leather, coffee in a rich h nose Coffee, bitter chocolate, sloan, good acidity, tannins are still present but softened. Blueberries in a balanced aftertaste Cellared for 7 years which did the trick to soften the tannins. Again it is true that a Bandol should be at least 7-8 years old before being consumed 🍷🍷🍷 and this one can certainly be kept for another couple of years 😊

My last bottle from a case. Drinking the best I have have had of it so far. Just as a Bandol should be.

Redemption is in order for this wine, which I didn't like very much in 2016 and wrote "perhaps cellaring will do the trick". Another five years certainly did help and I enjoyed the wine a lot more this time around.

Good clarity, Bandol distinctiveness, a modest food wine with nice equilibrium. A hint of rusticity to add another dimension.

Nice Bandol. Good equilibrium and not too tannic for those concerned about. Solid.

Decanted for 30 minutes. This needed a bit of air to get going, ideally it should have been decanted for an hour. After it opened up, there were really nice dark fruit aromas, plums, perhaps a hint of orange peel, very pleasant. The palate follows with dark fruit and quite strong tannins, with some bitter chocolate. This is an elegant wine and it's in a nice spot now. Might even get better with a few more years on it.

Still a bit rustic, more time in the bottle or a decant should help. Good, typical classic Bandol profile.

Ready to drink all though it Could go for a very long time! Smoky, with blackberry, jerky, dried fig aromas. Such an underrated wine for the money!

Second Sunday Group: Bandol (Frank's) : Double blind. Sour, weedy and vegetal at first. Tannic; dark fruit on the palate. This changed more than any of the others as the vegetal qualities fade leaving dark fruit and spice. Nicely balanced; finishes with decent length. My #4, Domino's #8 Group #7, 64 pts

I used to really like La Bastide Blanche, but it's possible that my taste buds have changed. It is very heavy and I find it difficult to match with food and not that exciting to drink on its own. The fruit is there but I have doubts about the structure, to me the alcohol dominates too much. Perhaps cellaring will do the trick.

Decanted for 30 mins. Fairly strong dark fruits with a hint of licorice on the nose, with a nicewhiff of red cherries. The palate shows strong dark fruit, with strong tannins and some minerality. Quite a nice wine that would benefit from some years in the cellar.

Ungt och kraftiga tanniner men en trevlig bekantskap, inte minst med lite luft.
