Agree with GESTALTED's note. Rosella's is a favorite vineyard, and the fruit is in good hands with Bernardus. Decent qpr @ $30.

Rosella's vineyard is my fav next to Garys'. It's so recognizable. Raspberry liqueur with a touch of rhubarb and black tea. It's a consistent mouthcoating texture across all who pull from Rosella's. Bernardus did Rosella's justice in this 2013 vintage, as expected given the great weather pattern that year. Highly recommended.

Bernardus Tasting - 2014 Chardonnays & 2013 Pinots (Carmel Valley) : Unfortunately all of the four 2013 Pinots tasted in this lineup were forgettable for the most part and hovered in the 87 point range at best. I could not honestly tell you which wine was which. The Sierra Mar, Soberanes, Rosella's, and Garys' were pretty much all the same Pinot wrapped into one lackluster flavor robe of medium-bodied black cherry, strawberry, and some cedar. Thin mid-palate and a lost …

Good wine, maybe a bit hot, but this is the best Bernardus Pinot. Fruit and structure!

This beat the Siduri 2009 Rosella's for me, but I was alone in thinking so. I preferred its acidity and structure, whereas the others found the Siduri deeper, jammier, and more "profound."

Lighter ruby color with clear rim. Nose: red & black cherry, sweet red plum, dried redcurrant, and strawberry with accents of sandalwood, incense, sumac, pipe tobacco, allspice, red rose, toffee, pink peppercorn, tamarind, and cardamon. Medium body on the palate: red cherry, dried redcurrant, sweet red plum, and strawberry framed by sumac, baking spices, rose tea, pink peppercorn, allspice, cardamon, star anise, and rosemary. Medium+ acidity. Moderate tannins. Lingering allspice, rose tea, pink peppercorn, cardamon, and rosemary on the moderate/long …

Color- medium claret. Nose -pepper/berry Duration - medium Body - medium Flavors were a pepper>berry mix but not overwhelming or even that strong on either end. Not much complexity to it but no tannins or dryness that sometimes comes with California Pinots, at least in my opinion. Pleasant, goes well with moderate body foods and even with a grilled salmon filet (I thought it might overwhelm the fish but it didn't).

Excellent Pinot. Beautiful fragrance. Light Ruby color. Slight smoky overtones that pair perfectly with light meats or wood fired pizza. Very balanced wine.
