Nose of concentrated blackberry preserves and baking spices. On the palate, it was the same, but just short of being jammy with some mossy oak, a tinge of tarragon and a touch of pitch. The finish is medium, and the ABV is apparent. This wine is thick, bold, and definitely a food wine. Served with smoked tri tip and collard greens. Would have scored higher if it was a tad more integrated with the flavors, tannins, and alcohol.

Above average zinfandel - this had a nice balance of fruit, tannin and earth. Went very well with bbq pulled pork. Excellent for the price.

Appearance: Deep ruby red color with a garnet rim. Aroma: Warm, jammy aromas of raspberry, black cherry, dried herb, and sandalwood. Palate: Juicy, brambly palate delivers sumptuous flavors of cherry, boysenberry, blueberry, and dark chocolate with a touch of earthy complexity. Finish: Lively acidity and peppery spice linger on a bright, energetic finish.

Typical Opolo Zin --- fruit forward, flavorful, accessible, reasonably priced, easy drinking.

This bottle had a little more complexity than the last ones. Time or bottle variation? Still great Opolo fruit!

Smells, tastes, and acts as big as its whopping 15.9% abv. Briary dark fruit, asphalt, and brown sugar aromas open up to plump, juicy fruit and steely minerality on the palate. Warm finish. Not my style of wine but I'll drink it for kicks.

Opened Two bottles tonight. Both had sediment at the cork and while not vinegar were clearly not right. Tangy / tingly but still some flavor.

Probably drank too young, but it's a very nice Zin. Ripe extracted fruit, good firm structure, very lively.

Just like the '16, the fruit in this wine is absolutely delicious. I think this vintage is more extracted than the '16 if I remember correctly. I like a little more acidity in my wine but this is a winner for the QPR.

My last review stands. Almost dessert wine. But not as viscous three years later. Glad I waited on this one. The flavors are outstanding, but the alcohol is still a bit higher than I would like.

Big and jammy, with gobs of fruit barreling forward (perhaps a bit over the top). Surprising sweet this time, but should go well with the pasta sauce I'm cooking up tonight. Alcohol not nearly as hot as it has been in the past. Perhaps reminiscent of the 1993 Lytton Springs Zin.

Pop and pour ... After a very poor previous experience with this wine I was not looking forward to (or ever planning on) drinking it again. And, while I still wasn't a fan (this is SWEET like candy--way too sweet for me) this time out I found it better balanced and more like wine than cough syrup, without the mushroom aftertaste (a big plus). Still not something I'd buy again, or ever choose to drink if I was the one …

Very good fruit, but perhaps a bit too sweet. Great mouth feel---love holding this in my mouth a while before swallowing. Alcohol is high, need to let sit for a while...otherwise is "hot". Consistant;y good wine from this producer.

Alcohol has this a tad bit hot at the moment. Great deal of black cherries and plums barrel on down the middle, with a smidge of cassis tailing around the backside. Fairly Jammu, and definitely meeting the mark for the sort of big fruit bomb I was after tonight. Chag Samaiech!

This is a good, solid zin. I can see where the high alcohol comments are coming from but I don't find the wine overly sweet or 'dessert like' as mentioned. Perhaps it mellowed out with time? It's definitely fruit forward and far from earthy but it goes great with many dishes like the homemade meatball and arugula pizza I had it with tonight. I'm excited to try it again tomorrow night - I think that extra day will do it …

Let's call this one what it really is. Oops, we nearly made a dessert wine. Too dry for dessert though. While overall I enjoyed the wine, it has a certain cough syrup quality that detracts. In a near perfect year for northern county zins, this one was good if not awkward. For the price, save the dough and go north. Will save my last bottle at least another year or two to see if it just has not yet come …

I was interested to read such mixed reviews. Certainly high on the alcohol, but really fruit forward with a mix of chocolate hints. Drank it with a nice burger, stashed the half bottle over night and the next day the wine held its own just fine. For $15.....quite good-

Mixed feelings on this wine. it has lovely aroma of coffee, black cherry, red berries, pepper and smoke. on the palate it is overly baked and sweet (although technically dry, most likely). This wine works quite well with the right food (burgers in my case) but it gets tedious on its own. whatever fruit is there is probably high quality but it's hard to judge at this point. Perhaps it will come together with another year of age, but I …

Syrupy sweet and cloying. It becomes a little enjoyable about halfway through a glass, as your palate gets saturated and the 16.6% alcohol starts having its affect. You never forget that you're drinking a super-sweet fruit bomb though.

Decanted approx. 3 hours … Odd nose; very earthy … An off-putting candy-like syrupy sweetness dominates this wine. Any berry/prune overtones overwhelmed by the sweet and then earthy (think wet leaves) taste. A long finish with lingering tannins, though neither my husband or I had any desire to finish even half a glass. Bad bottle or bad blend? The candy sweetness and mushroom odor/taste overwhelm anything nice this wine might have going for it.
