Echolands Winery Syrah Les Collines Vineyard

Thin and closed initially with a cordial cherry on the nose. After an hour it started opening up and turned in to the elegant style Washington Syrah that I love from Les Collines. I will decant from here on out on this one.

Tasted blind. Deep purple color with clarity. Aromas of black cherry, currant and plum, with violet and lavender florals, and clove/allspice and black tea, with hints of turned earth, melted stone and leather. Consistent fruit notes and secondary on the palate, adding cedar and graphite. Medium weight, nice elegance to the density, medium acid, with round fleshy tannins. Finishes with oak spices and black fruit. Nicely done.

Very nice Syrah

Really lively wine. Has that Bruce dark herbal quality that I associate with les collines. Very pleasant now but I suspect will be even better in two to three years.
