Domaine Laurent Mouton Givry 1er Cru Clos Charlé

Medium red. Gorgeous nose of oak intertwined with Chalonnaise Pinot Noir. A bit sharp and angular in the mouth with relatively high acidity overpowering the fruit. Needs food. Not as forceful or intense as the 2013 and 2014 Mouton Givrys I have tried. Nevertheless, a super value at $15 from Invino.

Pretty good depth. Gun-powder, light mineral hint. Generous and oaky and slightly rustic. Dark cherries and damp earth. Medium-fullish palate. Quite rich. Sweet cherry fruit. Youthful. Oak better integrated than on nose. Shorther finish and lacks an extra dimension.

To avoid waiting too long, as I did with the 2007 from this producer drunk a few weeks ago (almost dead, and over the top) I decided to pop this tonight. Nose is Pinot typical, with red berries, cherries, spices and minerals (that is Pinot typical as in real Pinot, grown in Bourgogne, not somewhere else where it should not). PNP. Cork perfect. Color ruby. Nose earth cherries and a hint of iodine. Swishing shows high toned cherry framed by mostly acid structure. Some tannins sneak in at the end but the finish lingers. Sipping shows polish into which the structure recedes leaving very favorable impressions. This will mellow I expect over the next 3-10. Wit hair this picked up a little heft and I noticed some oak but this is more subtle and unobtrusive. New producer for me but …

Red berries, a touch of spice and oak. Taste is light to medium bodied, lots of acidity to give length. Quite nice burgundy actually!

Jo det var nog lite tidigt att dricka detta vin. Doften är rödfruktig, inte helt mogna jordgubbar och lite röda vinbär och ett uns lingon? Mycket diskreta fattoner. Smaken är mycket mer kryddig med choklad i eftersmaken. Efter en tid i glaset utvecklas vinet och även doften blir mer kryddig. Får nog köpa fler flaskor och lämna i källaren några år.
