This was never a great wine, but the plastic cork failed in its simple task this time. Oxidized, game for the vinegar crock.

Zero expectations for this, as I knew it had a plastic cork and the late 90s B&H wines were dying 10 years ago. Surprise, surprise. No oxidation, fruit is plentiful. However, sweet/surmaturite notes, some heat, not my style. But better than I expected. B-/C+

Nice red fruits. Subtle spice. Bit of a tart finish. Decent.

Very nice syrah, perhaps not in the bold style typical of the winemaker but very respectable. Ours was in perfect condition with the plastic cork.

Unfortunately, there was nothing to this wine ... not a "bad" (ie. corked) bottle, just minimal nose and even less fruit on the palate. Had 2 glasses over 2 hours, just to see if anything would develop ... nothing did. Disappointing.

I hate these darned plastic corks. The color on this wine is a murky lightish purple. Sort of a non-descript nose. Some purple fruit in there as well as some asian spices like clove and 5 spice. Just not an interesting wine that seems to have gone no where. Certainly not worth the $45 I paid for it 8 years ago.

Mid to deep ruby, almost bloody. Quite an elegant, restrained nose, red fruits, slightly spicy. Sweet mulberry fruit, very fat, thick texture, sweet vanilla - expensive oak. Rounded and rich. Moderate length. Well balanced, though after a few glasses the almost 15% alc is evident. A classy effort in a new-world style. Probably not worth the asking price but a pleasing effort non-the-less.

Violet in color, this wine seemed very soft with black cherry, menthol, gamey, meaty flavors. It had a long finish but was uninspiring. Undrinkable on day 2. Very disappointing. 50+10+8+7+7 = 82.
