First bottle of this vintage in over a year. Coravined a cup off for Carol to make her lasagna yesterday and enjoyed with the lasagna today as a pnp. Darkest opaque magenta in the glass. Nose of licorice and black shoe polish with a whiff of alcohol. The palate is of moderately dense black fruit with high toned acidity and a little orange rind on the back end. Very pleasant and a couple points better than my last bottle. Paired …

Trying again a year or so later. Two hour decant and not too bad. Day 1 very acidic but also some bright red fruit that goes nicely with food. Paul said he had a woody stemmy note that he doesn’t like. I did not perceive it myself, but it didn't feel totally integrated. Day 2, yum and reaches last year’s 94. Some darker berries, milk chocolate, smooth tannins, prominent but balanced acid and a long finish. Day 1 preferred the …

Not flawed as last week's bottle was. Enjoyed over 1-2 hours after the pnp. Red/black fruited with a slightly tart aftertaste. Balanced otherwise. More bottles to go in the cellar. We'll see how they play out over time.

Been 2 years since my last bottle of this one. pnp'd before dinner. Dark purple in the glass, red fruited nose and something peculiar, I can't quite place. First sips thin with light red fruit. Palate of semi tart red cherry predominantly the first hour. Nice balance with good acid and integrating tannins. Maybe a 90? 2 hours in and the weird nose element comes to the forefront, even more so. It's the very distinct smell of modelling clay that …

Deep purple color. Very dark fruits on the nose. Medium-plus body, medium acid, medium tannins. Very dark fruits, cedar, bitter cocoa, and licorice on the palate. Very good value for a Napa cabernet.

What to serve with grilled Morgan Ranch ribeye? Boom, going Napa cab. It's been 18 months since I had the 2018 and it's starting to settle into it's early phase of the drinking window. I decanted for 2 hours. Classic Napa fruit, cassis, sweet oak notes, creamy mouthfeel, dark and yet brilliant. Wow, this is the best Napa QPR I've tasted and it might be 2x value. It reminded me, and the Warden, of Riverain which is very high praise …

Deep ruby purple colored; nose of blueberries cocoa and graphite. Well integrated tannins Delicious dark fruit, licorice and earthy flavors. A little hot at first but over the course of the meal it smoothed out giving complex flavors with a long finish. Should continue to evolve.

Neglected to read my prior note from Jen's bottle earlier this year and I should have given it another year, at least.......a real shame. This bottle is just stemmy green on the nose and palate, even after 5 hours of air. Nobody wanted to drink it, so back into the bottle after 5 hours in the decanter and now open to air on my kitchen counter. We'll see how it plays out over the next few days......but good wine shouldn't …

Decided to pull an 18 to decide if I want to purchase 19. PNP- Locked up tight with a bit of heat. Lifted fruit lacking body at this point. Maybe it gains weight with time in the bottle. Started to pick up some chocolate and blueberry notes but that was about it. I think this wine improves in time but I'm not sure how much. NR for now as I still have some left for day two. 3rd day was …

Drank this alongside a couple other wines of similar price - Saunter Swagger and DiCo. This was a touch savory and reticent, and was my least favorite after one glass. But, that changed quickly, as glass two was delicious. Well balanced, rich, with a long finish. Even though it was Coravin’ed over three days, it did evolve. By the end, it was my favorite of the three.

Gobs of dark fruits (plum, blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, boysenberry), red cherry, earth, graphite, light herbs, and a little oak on the nose. Black cherry, plum, tart cherry, red cherry, herbs, minerals, and earth on the palate. Tart, mouthwatering acidity, fine tannins, medium finish. Very plush and concentrated. Overall, this was a rich, big wine, with lots of great fruit. It lacks a little complexity at the moment, but should get even better with some time.

First taste of this, purchased on Berserkers Day. Super impressed. Really nice deep flavors, right up there with the 3-digit big boys, and tannins under control. I could actually drink this over the course of the evening without destroying my mouth. Great stuff.

Started to open up with about two hours air, but still could use more bottle time. Nice structure, great fruit, has lots of potential.

Wineberserker purchase blind, by myself and also for Jen, who broke one out of her cellar earlier this week before our '21 Wine-o-palooza....she informed me that she decanted for 9 hours on day one, then had a glass before putting the wine and the cork back in the bottle and the bottle back in the fridge for another 24 hours. The following day a 4 oz. sample bottle was poured off and sealed and saved in the fridge for me, …

Very pleased with this Beserker day purchase. Dark and inky in color, big fruity nose on opening. Decanted in the morning and left for 9 hours (not intentional to be so long) and it was fantastic. Rich berry fruit, chocolately flavors, this has great structure and should evolve into something even more complex and exciting. Saved some for Mark who tried on day 3 and it was still going strong. Obviously, a long decant recommended if drinking now.

Blind purchase on winebersker day 2021 that sparked my interest. Napa Cab inaugural release from Oakville by an unfamiliar winemaker at an attractive price point. Curious? Me too. Much to like....rich concentrated and well balanced. Dark fruits and chocolate also nice. Some CT folks say tasted spice or clove. For me on day 1 it was harsh an almost burn-like finish that kept me from wanting more. Day 2 was a bit better. Coravin both glasses so still have 1/2 …

Really dark and inky wine. Dark purple fruits braced by medium-high acidity. Chocolately and a little spicy. Rich and concentrated. Usually don't go for this type of cab, but despite being so deep its very well-balanced.

Fresh fruit on the nose and palate. Almost as if it was a barrel sample. Needs plenty of time even after a 2 hour decant. The guys preferred this much more than the girls. It was too brooding and masculine for them. I enjoyed it and it was my 3rd favorite of the lineup.

Solid Napa Cab hitting all the right notes. Nice dark fruit and licorice nose with long finish. Well balanced with unobtrusive tannins.

Decanted for 9 hours. Looks very dark and concentrated in the glass and there is a Chambord note. Also some spice aromas which I can't put my finger on. Very good fruit with a spicy clove and charred oak that last for a really long time, one of the longest finishes every for any wine. It just hangs on and on. There's a hint of salinity that might be olive at the end. The perception of acid very forward with …

Tasted blind. My initial guess on this was petite sirah, as it was inky in color and just seemed big, dark. Lots of asian five spice, although some in the group called it clove, which works too. The aromatic also exhibited a graham cracker note. Inky, dark, with charcoal, dense and concentrated, clove and dark chocolate. I didn't care for this, based on the elevated alcohol, density and I just don't care for wines like this in my glass anymore.

This is Pezzato's inaugural release, and so I was extremely excited to try it. I know it is not best practice, but literally opened it right off the delivery truck and decanted for a couple of hours. Nose reveals notes of dried fruit, ripe cherries, and crushed rock. Taste is characterized by dark fruits, earth tones such as rhubarb and forest floor, and a bit of chocolate. Tannins are supple and not harsh. It is a really good wine now …

The 2018 Pezzato is a fantastic new wine from Michael Savaiano. no. 2 lead pencil, chocolate, dark cherries. With a 3 hour decant this was silky smooth to drink. And at $65? What a steal for Napa Valley.
