Frank Family Vineyards, Chardonnay, Los Carneros

One of my very favorite American chardonnays. Leads with tropical fruit notes, continues with a rich and full mid palate and finishes long and clean with little or no oak.

Citrus and apple. Buttery, but not flabby. Good balance, with a nice, subtle streak of acidity. Very nice Chardonnay at an even nicer price. Wish I'd bought more.

Drank from a split in a restaurant. Straw. Nicely balanced apples melon, and just a hint of tangerine. The oak is right on target . Had limited options but this went well with both the Halibut and the truffled macaroni.

Since my last review this Chardonnay has gained depth and greater richness with its soft butter like notes. Intense lemon and apple notes. As this vintage ages, wish I had more.

Should have waited another year on this -- the drinking window is definitely passed 2014. Acid is still a little bit greater than I prefer, though it leads to a nice, refreshing crispness. Didn't get a distinctive nose. Palate was lemon oil and green apple. Wife liked it more than I did, but I recall that being the case with the '10 vintage as well. Good CA chard, though not my favorite.

Absolutely delicious Chardonnay that is incredibly smooth and perfumed with soft buttery notes and hints of apple. Wonderful finish that lingers for 30 seconds...an amazing value.

We always enjoy this wine... A very nice napa chard with smooth buttery oak. Best with white flaky fish, we had with some simple triple tail.

Buttery, creamy, good acidity with melon; lemon-butter cream; French oak 1/3 new, 1/3 used, 1/3 steel; with a touch of cinnamon. Good CA style.

Oak bomb. Smooth, buttery. We decanted and had with chicken, rice, and hummus. My wife loves the oakiness, but I like my whites a bit more restrained. That said, a nice offering given what it is - a traditional Napa Chardonnay. Drink now until 2015. GOOD.

Ok chard, nothing to write about. Decent nose, ok palate, little if any oak, no creme character, some pinapple but average overall.

The wine looks Yellow gold colored. It smells like Lime, Orange, Apple, Peach, Pineapple, Light toast, and Sandalwood. It tastes like Lemon, Orange, Apple, Apricot, Peach, Honeydew, and Sandalwood. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Bright texture. The wine finishes Short.

Deep golden color leads to a nose of honey and pear. The full body is a bit awkward with notes of butter, pear, honeysuckel but really lacking the focused acidity of previous bottles. Still enjoyable but I've certainly had better bottles of this wine.

This has been our house chardonnay for serveral years. This never fails to deliver buttery creme brule delivered in a crisp wrapper. This was an enjoyable bottle of wine that has improved with a little over a year of bottle age.

Not much fruit for me. The oak comes out (maybe a little too much for my taste?) and hint of minerals. Has a long finish. This was a 375 ml bottle.

WIML91,PURPLE91-92,NOWA,NOWS Tasted July 29, 2006 at home. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Weiss Wein glass. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of lemon oil, pear, yellow apple and some crushed almonds/nuttiness. Flavors of yellow apples, butter, pears, a touch of lemon zest, perhaps some hazelnut. Medium acidity, medium bodied. I admit that I am seduced by butter. And this one has delicious butter. Think movie style popcorn. Great aroma. Lovely finish. The middle was a bit lacking, hence the 88 score, but nonetheless I enjoyed this wine and exclaimed "delicious" several times while drinking.

If you like your chards buttery and oaky, this one is for you. They do a very good job of keeping to their style year after year. A step down from the awesome 2002, this is still a very nice (and somewhat hard to find) wine.

This is a very vibrant young chardonnay which actually tasted better chilled than at room temperature. The wine has nice fruit flavors of citrus and mild acidity while at the same time has a creaminess of butter and the smoky flavor of oak. It is drinking very nicely and should get better with a little bottle age.

WIML88,NOWA,NOWS Tasted February 18, 2006 at the home of WineDrinkerofTexas. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Much lighter style than the Rochioli South River consumed prior to this and therefore didn't show quite as well. Simply flavors of yellow apple, pear, etc... Drink now.

This is the best of the Frank wines right now. The mixture of apple, citric fruits and slight butter. Refreshing. Personally, I like it a little colder than room temp.
