Two hour decant. Blackberry, black cherry, graphite and vanilla. Full bodied, round and very smooth. Great balance. Integrated tannins and a long earthy finish. Delicious bottle of wine.

What a beauty this turned out to be. I had not had a Rioja with 30 years of age, so I did not know what to expect. Age has been incredibly good to this wine. The nose, palate and finish were amazingly good. Sweet, long and distictive.

Began drinking after a 45 min decant, tracking as it evolved over the next 1-2 hours. Still very much present, can easily last another 5+ years. Lots of dark fruits, structured and elegant. Long finish, very well balanced. A really excellent Rioja!

This particular bottle has aged extremely well. Some fruit character showing on the darker end of the spectrum. Tertiary notes are shining and integrating well with the rest of the wine. Tannins quite mellow. Lengthy finish.

Couldn’t wait to open our last bottle, so we opened it tonight with shish kabob. Absolutely delicious. Still deep ruby color. Lots of black fruits in the nose, black cherries, blackberries and black currants along with leather and tobacco with hints of chocolate and licorice. Blackberries, black cherries, plums and black raspberries in the flavor. An elegant wine, very well balanced, full bodied, good acidity, nice complexity and a very long silky finish.

Still deep ruby color, almost opaque in the bowl. Lots of black fruits in the nose, black cherries, blackberries and black currants along with leather and tobacco with hints of chocolate, licorice and floral. Blackberries, black cherries, plums and black raspberries in the flavor with a hint of minerality. An elegant wine, very well balanced, full bodied, good acidity, nice complexity and a very long silky finish. Delicious now and can easily go several more years.

In a lineup of mature wines from all over the world, this was the most complete wine, undeniably in the plateau of maturity, a mix of fruit and oak and structure, but also the most boring. If I enjoyed this alone over dinner I'd be ecstatic but at the end of a lineup of very interesting wines this was a little boring.

Young but developing some complexity. Modern Rioja but I I felt that the oak treatment was more judicious than the cheaper Seleccion Especial bottling. A more serious bottling with some dark fruits. Hold next bottle for 5 years.

Not bad per se, but not particularly remarkable in any way either. I think the interesting aspects of this wine did not survive til now, unfortunately. Not really a ding on the wine, it's been two decades after all.

Black fruits, charcoal smoke, sage, used leather, light oxidation note (in apositive way). Vanilla and in general a (delicious) rustic note. A pleasure to drink.

Deep garnet color. After opening aromas of dark plums, blackberry, tobacco, cinnamon. Later came old wood, leather, balsamico. Juicy, with high acidity, plenty of silky tannins, intense. Taste of plums, prunes, chokeberry, dark chocolate, vanilla. Very long. Excelent mature Rioja.

Last had 7 years ago in 2017 and it has barely evolved in that time. Tannins have softened a bit but this remains a heavily extracted modern Rioja with dense but youthful red fruits. Still quite closed and one dimensional. Leave for another 5 years or preferably 10.

Tuesday night blinds : [Tasted Double Blind] This pours deep ruby, opaque, with light bricking at the rim. The nose is deep and rich, clearly showing some warmth while maintaining old world sensibility. The nose is of ripe dark plum, stewed cherry, brown sugar, shoe polish, leather, light VA, hay, and mint. The palate is also deep and rich on entry, with firm medium tannin and medium acid. The finish is moderate in length built on the dark fruit with …

Random snag from Binny's for dinner at Beckmans with steak. PnP (no decanter available) and it was still fantastic. Yes it is young, yes it continues to improve. 2nd bottle was opened simultaneously and had a bit more graphite/flint nose but otherwise similar tasting notes to others. Hold 5+y

fantastic nose showing age with hints of mossy understory, mushroom, leather and a touch of cola. with air, the palate expands to deliver more fruit than you'd expect for juice nearly two decades old, but also elegance and velvety smooth texture with some nice mineral nuance and meaty charcuterie. there's an attractive iodine note woven into the lengthy finish.

The first vintage of a modern spin-off project but at age 30 it's anything but. Texturally it's on the fleshier side, with some plummy fruit, but otherwise it's pretty classic. Leathery, spicy, old wood, dense & savory, a marvel.

Fantastic. Dense, impacted sheets of poppyseeed and black berry. Ripe. Yielding and stoic. Rippling with herb and seasoned wood action. I swear I am more a Muga sceptic than an apologist—where is that chip that was on my shoulder?

Lovely nose, old wood, classic balsamic notes. Juicy in the mouth, with lots of body, olive tapenade tinged dark cherry, abundant soft tannins. This is my last bottle and it is in a perfect place right now, and notably better than the bottle I had two years ago. Powerful, graceful, and charismatic.

The wine looks inky colored. The legs are slow. It smells like prune, plum, black currant (cassis), mineral, mushroom, stoniness, high toast, coconut, oak, vanilla, black pepper, clove and violet. The body is full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Opened 30minutes ahead, and decanted just before serving. Consistent with earlier Jan22 note. Very dark ruby-purple, dense. Blackberry and plum fruit, with a hint of spiciness. Tannins not noticeable this time, quite well-integrated: very smooth. Paired very nicely with lamb kebabs and spicy harissa roasted carrots.

This modern style Rioja kick started a string of 5 different reds we were gonna enjoy with our Tapas meal in town... Black fruit aroma on the nose, rather tight initially but opened up over 2 hours, remained bold but balanced this was a great 1st bottle. Spice and vanilla notes obviously from the French oak aging. Very dark ruby color. Full bodied. Cork broke, but not totally deteriorated, so merely a moment of nerves rather than a catastrophe. Black fruit, more blackberry or black plum than black cherry (I’d say), with a touch of red meat, plus spiciness at first that didn’t persist through the evening. Dusty tannins fairly prominent at first, but assuaged by our Wagyu beef filet and roast potatoes, which it complemented very well.

Benefits from a long decant. Deep ruby, towards purple, with only the slightest hint of evolution at the rim. Fine sediment. Right out of the bottle I got jammy blackberry but then its tons of oak with clove, vanilla, coffee notes. The palate shows high acidity and high, drying tannins. Long finish. Palate has a lot more tertiary notes like cured meat and leather, but not a lot of fruit. Slightly disjointed overall; a little surprising for a 16-year-old wine. …

Nose: Very significant oak component here as others have expressed. Sandalwood, vanillin, potpourri, and clove. Palate: Blackberry and raspberry preserves are tightly wrapped with leather, vanilla laced oak and and spice elements. Just a bit of grilled bell pepper too. This needs a lot of time to integrate. Hopefully the oak can be consumed a bit by the fruit. Nice rioja with a bright future.

Tasted blind, it was obvious to all that this was immature Rioja. The abundant clove, leather, and sandalwood notes couldnt come from anywhere else, but this is still showing so much oak its hard to get much else off of it. It seems to have the requisite fruit to last until the oak is integrated but, realistically speaking, we are talking about a 10-15 year timeline before well really know. The potential score bracket is huge depending on how it …
