Wine Tasting Group - No Theme - Feb. 22, 2020 (My place) : Gamay from Touraine, Loire Valley, France. Herbal and floral aromas hit the nose first followed by a hint of resin, raspberries and cherries. Bright tart cherry and raspberries on the palate with spices and nice minerals. Excellent acids and nice depth to the wine. Would not have guessed gamay on this - perhaps Loire cot (malbec). A nice surprise. 89+

Chris Bratcher's Birthday Tasting with Martine's Wines (Riverside Wine & Spirits) : Great Gamay much in the style of a Cru Beaujolais. This is a Loire Valley classic fermented with 100% indigenous yeasts with no sulfur or oak.

This bottle seems to have lost bloom compared with the one opened a couple of months ago. Possible causes - storage at about 20°C of a wine without sulphur and a less suitable pairing.

Another winning quaff. Slightly rounder and fuller bodied than the entry level Marionnet Gamay and today's Fleurie and more balanced towards fruit than towards minerality but equally delicious. Very good QPR at €9.
