Fantastic Syrah—do it again Boich!!

Not as overwhelming as it was four years ago, but hasn’t advanced as much as expected. Doesn’t need as much air any more. Very peppery.

This wine is monstrous. Almost overwhelming to drink now. Can definitely see the good things coming, but need to wait five years or more.

Napa Visit with wine makers and owners; 2/3/2017-2/8/2017 (Napa, CA) : Purple body and not at all fruity like a typical Australian Shiraz. This is a very, very restrained wine. (Got 95 pts from Parker) The mid-palate has acidity that holds onto your tongue. A light dusty smokey finish which is dry. Light mountain misty style but not what I might have expected from Napa

Deep and dark ruby red. One of the most interesting and complex syrahs we have tried out of napa. Loving these mountain juices. The attack on the nose started out smoky with hints of tobacco, spices and lots of herbs. Both savory and dried. A bit of dark dried berries too. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Boich 2016 (Mayacama Country Club, Santa Rosa) : The first of four wines poured. This was understandably tight and a little lithe for a California Syrah. Some of the mountain fruit was evident, with hints of bramble and minerality surrounding the red and purple berry fruit. This came off as incredibly young, primary, and linear.
