Really lovely and opened up beautifully. Black Currant, tobacco, darker than blackberry... Perhaps cassis. Velvet smooth. Rich on the tongue and tannins have receded. But a base is still there. Lovely

This needed 24 hours to come around. I don't think an hour or two will do. Day 1: Oak and cherry, tastes like wine. Day, 2: An easy drinking, surprisingly ripe blend. I was expecting something a bit leaner with the CF and Merlot combined with a pretty low abv, but that is not the case. This is full bodied, medium+ tannins, menthol/alcohol on the nose, red fruit dominant and cloyingly sweet. I'd put this in the crowd pleasing category …

I find this wine has a hard edge, touch of candy-ish red cherry and aggressive oak that doesn’t agree with me. It’s not a bad wine, just not my style.

Ripe but not balanced. Primary and not clear if it will soften up and become more enjoyable. Decanted over 2 hours.

Light to medium ruby. Blackberry, blackcurrent, dark plum, licorice, blackstrap molasses, roses on the nose. Round feel on the palate with a lovely balance of red and dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, high acids, lovely floral back notes moving into the long finish. Complex balance of density and lightness, fresh and earthy, redolent with flowers and clean fruit.

Root to Table tasting at winery Primarily merlot, and we enjoyed this more than the merlot. More tannic and more like the Sinskey merlot I remember/like. Will hold a few years Bought 7

Needed to let it decant prior to tasting. Blackberry, stone fruit nose. Intermediate boldness with some acidity, there is a build in the mouth. Good balance.

This wine surprised me in a very positive way given my distaste for most overblown Napa Cabs. Its smooth and silky with delicious and crunchy dark berry fruit and a very clear expression of Napa terroir with notes of dark earth and violet floral spice. The texture is plush but there is a lovely core of acidity that keeps it fresh and succulent. The tannins are mostly resolved here so I wouldn't age this much longer as it's really good …

It’s easy drinking. A little sweet up front for a blend, but very solid and lots of depth to it.

In a great place, classic Napa profile, not sure what the blend is but it seems cab-merlot. Purple fruit, floral nose, good acid structure, medium tannins. Not a ton of depth but a great classic Napa blend. I poured this from coravin a few weeks ago and the acid was very high, it seems a little air in the bottle has balanced it out just enough. 92-93 very enjoyable

Nose is carried by sweet/stewed plums and toffee. Palate is extremely smooth, almost slippery. Black fruit with a little red sneaking in. Bordering full body with moderate finish and medium acidity. Nothing shocking here but overall a very nice wine. 13.6 abv

Really nice Merlot dominant blend. Off the wine list at Loring Place in NYC - reasonable at $100. Ended up going through a few bottles with friends at dinner. A real crowd pleaser but not overly oaky.

Winemakers Notes: A succulent rendition of POV with more fruit forward characteristics than the 2015 vintage. Fully ripened tannins balance the fruit with mouth-watering and mouth-filling flavors and textures. Elegant fruit characteristics of black and red berries, cherry compote and black plum are laced with notes of lavender, rose and dried herbs and framed by a delicate balance of French oak that elevates the aromatics and complements the richness. This sumptuous wine is ready to accompany a savory meal upon …

This was my first Sinskey and bottle came from unknown provenance. With that said it was a pretty nice bottle of this bordeaux blend. Some good dark fruits but a bit muted. Deep garnet color and good cork. Overall decent wine but seemed fading. Maybe just my bottle?

Has decent fruit, but masked by too much oak. Maybe some more time in the bottle can help with integration.

Without knowing the blend before I drank it, it was clearly a good (not great) Bordeaux blend. After finishing with my steak dinner, if didn't develop as much as I hoped in the glass. A bit young but don't think you will get much more out of by aging.

I like it! I had opened one of these a couple years back and felt it was just not that great. Well, this one changed my mind. I think the merlot is coming around, giving off some nice spice. Could go another 3-4 years probably.

I was rather neutral on this. I paired it with a filet and my wife paired it with Sea Bass. So...it paired well with both so that is a positive. The negative is that it was hardly memorable and not worth drinking again unless someone brought it as a gift. The finish was acceptable but not noteworthy and the tannins while present were not noteworthy.

Expected a pinot noir type of wine from this one but the color was darker the flavors were light but heavier than pinot noir but not as strong as merlot or cab. Do not know what blend was used for this ,but it was very good, fruity , not fruit bomb, dry, not desert, full body and good balance.

Restaurant purchase. I've enjoyed past vintages of the POV so it was an easy choice when I noticed it on the menu. Made of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced primarily from the cooler Carneros Region. Dark berries, and cherries along with some evolving tertiary notes, all underscored with a tannic backbone. Solid mouthfeel and strong finish. Very nicely done.

This wine continues to be a truly versitile wine. We opened this bottle when friends dropped by last minute. I asked what they were bringing and it was, baked chicken with green olive, capers, sun dried tomatoes, with couscous and asperigus. I didn't know what to pair with it when I remembered the bottle of POV in the basement. Believe it or not, it paired well with everything! It's truly the swiss army knife of food wines. This was a wonderful lighter wine with some robustness (or a lighter robust wine?). I wouldn't really be sure how to completely categorize this wine as it fits many different profiles. One thing that I can say is that it is VERY food friendly. I paired it with a simple red pasta dish and found it great, then a broccoli salad with cashews, still great. For dessert we had a wild Maine blueberry pie, that I thought it would clash …

Decant, decant, decant. It's gets better as it opens up for sure. I was expecting something more, in all honesty the wine was good but nothing I would go crazy over. Compared to the other wines this winery offers this fell short.

Very dark red color. Drank 1 restaurant glass over 1 hour. This was pretty nice overall, right bank style blend. The nose has dark cherry and plum with some coffee. The palate is medium-full bodied, consistent, round tannins, medium finish. 89+pts.
