Ferrer Ribiere, Cotes Cana, Cotes du Roussillon

I bought all I could and it's not enough (see Keith and Chomsky for the details).

Medium red color. Very sweet aromas of marmalade, raspberry and strawberry. On the palate it is equally sweet and fruity. Very accessible boiled candy fruit, raspberry and strawberry, with enough acidity to balance the sweetness. Simple and straightforward.

Complete agreement with Keith -- this wine is a knockout. There's incredible richness and depth packed into a restrained, streamlined frame, gorgeously muscular and meaty and with a spicy personality. Thanks for the tip, Mr. Levenberg.

Someone sent me a link recently (http://louonvine.com/hi) to what looks like the bestest wine bar ever!! Wish I'd known of this place when I was in L.A. recently. The page mentioned that their current favorite BTG pour is a pre-phylloxera carignane by some guy named Bruno Ribiere. That seemed worth hunting down. The wine, which is $16.99 at Woodland Hills for the 2005, turns out to be the Domaine Ferrer-Ribière VDP des Côtes Catalanes Carignan "Empreinte du Temps." The label …
