Iskaranu's 2017 mimmä is a 50/50 blend of two different clones, 115 and 777. This bottle was sampled in single-blind fashion at a global Pinot Noir tasting. Aged for 11 months in French oak (50% new), it serves up aromas and flavors of Montmorency cherries, raspberries, cola, coriander and black tea. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (13.9%) and moderately oaked, it stays solid on the middle palate and closes with a medium-length finish that carries some tannic grip. I love the name of this wine. "mimma" translates to "whatever". Since Iskaranu means wine, this is the "whatever wine". It has a clear, medium burgundy color. Extremely expressive aromatics ripened red fruits with some reductive notes (in a good way). Cherry flavors, spices, and little toasted marshmallow dominate on the palate.
