Francesco Mulinari (L'Aietta) Rosso di Montalcino

Gripping tannins. Brown hue on the edge. Overripe red fruit, pomegranate and some earthy notes.

A beautiful and pure expression of what a rosso can be. The nose is deep red cherry, edged with cocoa dust. It's medium-bodied and refreshing across the palate, ending in firm but not aggressive tannins. I could knock it a bit for lack of complexity but it's one of those bottles that's a race to the bottom, that is, it's so much fun to drink it would be churlish to complain.
